I am of mixed heritage, and I've decided to go natural. I never had much luck with relaxing and straightening my hair, and i'm sure its the lack of products and such. I just have no idea what I should be using, etc. I'm really frustrated. Any ideas or solutions?

But, I'm 100% natural, and I can get my hair really straight just using a flat-iron. Depending on your hair type though, you don't want to flat-iron often, it can permanently damage your hair, leaving you with limp hair that has to be grown out or cut off.

Although, if your hair is relaxed/permed now, you should easily be able get really straight hair. Try a quality flat-iron, such as the Maxiglide, Chi, or the Sedu, and use a good heat protectant, such as Chi Infusion, FHI Hot Sauce, etc, and you can obtain straight hair. Also, a good hair stylist should be able to do the job. My stylist can make my hair bone straight with her flat-iron.

I use a pressing creme for my hair and im thinking about going o natural myself (im a-a) but the thing for celebs is good products and weave...trust me about the weave. but i use sunsilk, the purple one for kinks and it makes my hair str8 and use different products when drying for shine and moisture

I can't tell if you want to get advice for keeping your hair straight, or for going natural. I'm going to answer this on the assumption that you want to go natural, so here goes:

I'm also mixed, and have done this one before. If you would like to go natural it's really very easy... the worst part about it is getting used to it. Once you do that, I'm sure you'll love your hair in its natural state.

How to do it depends on how you want to go about it. Some people just stop relaxing their hair and let it gradually grow out until all of their hair is natural.

When I decided to go natural, I just cut my hair very, very short. I continued to keep it short until all of my old hair was entirely gone. My natural hair was fuller and healthier than at any other time of my life after that.

In my experience, having short natural hair is a good way to start if you're not used to handling it and have a low tolerance for long hair styling sessions. Make sure you find a good moisturizer, some reliable shampoo and conditioner, and you're on your way. You may also want to ask around for advice, or go to a hair dresser that knows about black/mixed hair.

Growing it long while natural can be a pain if you find that combing is difficult. I had to comb mine very carefully while conditioning it to keep from pulling it out. I used braids or hair ties to keep it together, but eventually decided to cut it short again. Right now, my hair is almost no maintenance at all (shampoo and maybe conditioner) is lustrous, and looks great.

im half fijian, and buddy, even though im halfway across the world, i know what fuzzy hair is like. Yes, when i first stopped getting flattops (because thats the haircut i got since i was 5) i decided to go longer! So i took a look at what all the whiteys had around me and thought "why don't i let it fall?"

my step dad pointed out "You can't."

so i decided to cram my hair with loads of jel and it worked. my hair finally looked like it was falling until some jerk messed it up again. yeah natural is fine, you don't have to worry a thing, but i agree, it'd be more comfortable if everyone else had an afro as well.

They have very talented hairdressers that are at their beck and call. Its not just african american celebrities. The reason why most celebrities in general look so good is because of a team of people (wadrobe stylist, hairdresser, make-up artist) that they have that help them look that way. I'm sure anyone would look that good every day if they could afford to have someone do their hair, make-up, and style their clothes every day.
