Any good hair growth products? (Am African American)?

Its a myth are hair can't grow I know for sure because when I went to the salon she said our hair can't grow but told me to come back every two weeks for a trim....and no I never went back. I remember at the ages of 12,13,14 I had hair down to my back but I trusted my family and didn't know any better but my mom and her friends would perm my hair all the time even when it was ok so now am 20 with short hair that I hate I loved it back then but now it seems impossible to grow again and I have not used a perm in six months but my hair looks the same length.

Am I doing something wrong still?

Black hair does grow its just about how you take care of it. You say you haven't had a relaxer in six months so expect some breakage along the demarcation point, the point where relaxed and natural hair meet. Do not freak out if a lot comes off, you did say six months.

shampoo and deep condition with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Air dry, to lock in moisture and prevent breakage, then apply a light scalp oil to your scalp and a moisturizer to your strands. On the days your not washing either spray with a light leave in conditioner every other day or apply a light moisturizer every day. Try not to comb so often also, that aids in the snapping of hair.

You should also wear your hair in protective styles, any style that needs little to no combing or brushing and keeps the ends of your hair off of your clothes.

You don't have to clip your ends every month if its healthy, that will just make your shorter, hair only grows about 1/2 an inch per month, and if you cut it every month then it results in negative hair growth. Your hair will be shoulder length forever. If you keep up with your hair and get it healthy you only have to cut it once every 3 months, sometimes i only cut twice a year, and my hair is just fine.

You should be eating a well balanced diet, taking a multi-vitamin, and drinking plenty of water as well. They sell a hair, skin, and nails vitamin at GNC, i think it is called Nourishair for about ten dollars. I've heard rave reviews about it but I have never used it myself.

shampoos:

creme of nature ultra moisturizing

neutrogena triple moisture shampoo

conditioner

olive replenishing pak (protein conditioner)

neutrogena triple moisture deep recovery hair mask

organic root stimulator hair mayonnaise (protein conditioner)

scalp oil:

ginseng wonder 8 oil (this works well for my hair, i don't know about everyone elses though.)

sweet almond oil

coconut oil

you should also get a fotki.com account, they're free and they have a lot women who are growing their relaxed and natural hair out.

Who told you your hair cannot grow? ALL hair grows...If you are not getting regular trims, then that may be the reason your hair isnt growing. Your ends can be splitting and breaking off; in that event, you are not going to see any new growth. Hair grows on average about a half inch a month. Becuase you are not relaxing your hair, you are probably not going to see the actual growth, as when in its natural state, our hair has the tendency to curl some...

Anyway, make sure that you grease your scalp regularly and condition your hair.

it is very important that you keep your hair conditioned on a regular basis, try washing and conditioning it once a week and also use a leave in conditioner. Infusium 23 is a wonderful product to use. You do have to keep your hair trimmed- especially after getting a perm- you should get a perm usually every 6-8 weeks, if you do these things consistantly and wear a silk of satin cap or use a silk or satin pillow case, your hair will grow, it'll be healthier, and there will be ,ajor improvement in the texture..... good luck!!!

Get the vitamin biotin, and take it with a multi-vitamin, you can get it at GNC its about five dollars. It is for hair/nail growth. Eating jello helps. Hair grows half an inch on average a month.

thats sounds like my story... let me say you are not doing anything wrong. our hair is always growing. remember that your long hair day in the day? it took awhile (years) to get it there. assuming you style your hair everyday, heat can cause breakage. don't waste you money or your time on products that claim to grow hair or nails, its a big scam. just be try to be patient. try to focus on the health of the hair and not the length.

All African American women have trouble growing hair sometimes. But first, you have to find products that work on your type. For me, Isoplus Natural Remedy products are working great to grow out this short cut. Isoplus has many combinationsof special hair and scalp conditioners including tea tree and aloe (my favorite). This one actually acts as an antibacterial for the scalp and it stimulates hair growth. They also have Olive oil and Lanolin conditioner . It's great too and can be used with the tea tree and aloe. So try these and im sure you'll see some results. Also if you're going to wear you hair natural you should wash and condition and oil your scalp more often and comb it and brush it out. Good luck!!!!

...all hair grows so yeah i wouldn't' be returning to that beautician anyway the best thing to do is to get your ends cut and lay off the heat products so much and just wrap your hair every night.
