African american hair tend to be coarse and resistant so it might not take a lighter color very well if at all. I will recommend that you see a hairstylist .He might have to lighten your hair and then deposit the desired color or use a highlift color to achieve the result that you want .It all depends on your hair condition and the level of the color that you want to achieve.Talk to your hairstylist.

I am an african american and have tried several times t dye my hair, and it wont take. What does this mean???

Ok, I need more details, what color are you trying, what brand are you using, it could be a number of things causing the color not to take. Are you trying to go lighter? If your hair is black, you will need to lighten it up first. I would also suggest you go to a professional, doing it yourself can cause damage to your hair.

I am an african american and have tried several times t dye my hair, and it wont take. What does this mean???

dont panic, usually if ur hair is like jet black and u are trying a light color it wont take. so trying bleaching ur hair and then dying it a light color.

Can african american relax hair turn curly with any hair products is so can you let me know the product?

When I want my hair scrunchy, I just wash it, towel dry it, and while it's still damp apply gel and mousse to scrunch it to my liking. Depending on your hair type, it should come out the way you want it.

Wash it and apply curl gel to it, that makes it curly. If I let my hair air dry and apply gel (curl gel) it will curl up.

How can i make my hair grow..[african american] my hair is already a great lenght but i want it a li

Hey Girl,

The easiest way to get your hair longer is to let your hair grow without the application of chemical processes like hair relaxers or perms. I am speaking from experience. I have been completly natural or chemical free since 2004. I have been a natural off and on for almost eight years. 2004, was the last time I cut all my hair off. Every time I have let my hair go with a relaxer, my hair has grown past my shoulders- then I'd get the itches for a relaxer. Each and every time I relaxed my hair, my hair would slowly but surely start to break off at the ends. Mind you, I did not go to cheap salons, either. It was like no matter what I did, my hair would become brittle from the perm. Also, my hair growth was BARELY NOTICIBLE. When you are free of relaxers, your hair grows by leaps and bounds. The last time I cut my hair was in the fall of 2004. It was shoulder length at the time, I was so disguested with my hair breaking off- I was like "forget it!" That was the last time I cut more than seven inches of my hair off. My hair has grown so much since then, freinds ask me often if I'm wearing a weave. Also, on a daily basis, I use olive oil on my hair and I visit a salon about every two months to get my hair ends clipped. Hope this helps! God Bless!

How can i make my hair grow..[african american] my hair is already a great lenght but i want it a little longe

Leave in Berts Bee's Avacado conditioner for a day while you are kicking it around your flat.

Or Jojoba oil from any health place, heat it up and leave in hair.

Repairs the cells and gives them nutrients.

Also a small "gro" cut will help remove split ends which will make your hair want to grow more.

How can i make my hair grow..[african american] my hair is already a great lenght but i want it a little longe

unfortunatly, we can't make our hair grow longer faster. the best thing to do is to keep it healthy, it will grow at its own pace. however, make sure you deep condition (depending on texture) weekly, treat your hair to a hot oil treatment, and try to stay away from the heat. our hair can't handle all of it. but if you must protect it from heat. and of course our hair gets thirsty, so give it plenty of oil (not too much bc that will weigh it down). i love extra virgin olive oil, mixed with joba. ps watch out for split ends, and you should see hair growth within 4-8 months.

You can try alot of salon products which are made for hair growth but good luck bcuz most of the time they dont work.. best thing to do is wait and get extensions for the meantime....fushion extensions are expensive but worth it cuz they last at least 9 months-a year

Im a African-American male and im trying to grow out my hair to full grown fro.?

Im a African-American male and im trying to grow out my hair to full grown fro.?

Time....

Im a African-American male and im trying to grow out my hair to full grown fro.?

Depending on how long your hair is right now, depends if you can grow a big fro like that by September. I would say it also depends on how fast your individual hair grows. You can only try and hope to make it by September. You should though. As soon as you can get braids, do that - that will keep the style in low maintenance and it can grow because you're not really combing it out.

Im a African-American male and im trying to grow out my hair to full grown fro.?

no blow out kits !!!!!!!!!!! Just get braids and every few weeks get your hair trimmed.

Im african american i need to know to to transtion my hair from relaxed to all natural?

you have 2 options:

1: chop it all off and learn to take care of your hair as it grows

1: cut it every now and then letting it grow out. (which is how i'm doing it) over a period of 4 months i planned to cut a couple inches at a time. Next month is going to be the rest of my relaxed ends.

Either way you need to make sure you keep your hair moisturized. there are a wealth of websites you can go to that will help you

Im african american i need to know to to transtion my hair from relaxed to all natural?

I get my hair straightened a lot, the best way is just let it grow out and it will be back to it's natural state. As your hair grows the new hair is coming in natural, within 6 months your hair should be in it's natural state, maybe even sooner. For me, within 6 months my straightening is completely grown out and my hair is back to it's curly state. Just have some patience and it will be back to the way you want it. It will take patience though, but it will get there.

Im african american i need to know to to transtion my hair from relaxed to all natural?

The best thing for you to do is try braids or a sewn in weave for at least 6 months. Have it redone once every month or two. Drink plenty of water, take your vitamins and eat good proteins. You will see a stronger and more lustrous head of hair each time you undo your braids or weave. Just to let you know- you will lose some of your relaxed hair- but condition it as often as possible to keep it strong. When your hair reaches your desired length and you are ready to style it- have it washed, deep conditioned and pressed every 2-3 weeks. Keep it oiled between visits with a light hairdress! Dont get frustrated though- It will be a long process - but worth it in the long run!

Im african american i need to know to to transtion my hair from relaxed to all natural?

you can either get your hair chopped off all at one time, or gradually get it cut off. if you choose to gradually do it, you can do rollersets, braided extensions, and different natural styles...the object of the transition phase is for you to get use to your in it's natural state %26amp; learn how to take care of it. Do not have your hair straightened constantly, some people say this helps to grow the relaxer out, when it just really causes your hair to break off because of the 2 texture differences.

What are some good illustrative books about doing little African American girls hair?

Now that I have custody of my daughter all the time, it is not always convenient to pay or find someone to do my daughters hair. Therefore, I want to learn how to do it myself. Can anyone help a Father out? (smile)

I know what some of you might be thinking, why not get some lady to teach me? Good question, most people naturally tend to move at there own comfortable fast pace and others lack patience and others not so good teachers.

Although I have plenty of individuals both willing to do my daughters hair for a price and others for free, I still want to learn how to do it myself. (smile)

Its a messageboard mostly made up of black women and they just discuss all types of hair issues. Many of them also discuss and give reviews about hair products and salons across the country. Membership is free but you have to pay an annual fee of $5 to post.

But if you're still hell bent on a book try this one from essense. .

essence beauty basics and beyond (for women of color)

Its a really good book that teaches you not only how to do hair but also how to "diagnose" her hair type so that you can use the right products for her hair.

if you want more just go to your local library. My library had tons of books about hair care for everyone and have a handful of books about black hair care including hair styling.

good luck to you

What are the options for relaxing non-african hair?

I was thinking of getting japanese hair straightening, but it's way too expensive. What are the other options? Are the old fashioned relaxers permanent or not? Would it be better to get semi-permanent straightening such as brazilian keratin treatment? Before I knew much about relaxing, I asked two different hairdressers to relax my hair and they flat-out refused. My hair is not fine, delicate, or dyed, so that's not why they said no. Is it because most salons only carry relaxers for african americans, or because some stylists don't like to relax hair that's not curly? My hair is extremely wavy, frizzy, and coarse but not curly.

What are the options for relaxing non-african hair?

Keep calling salons that will do your hair with a regular perm. If they are a good hair stylist they will know a regular everyday perm will do non-ethnic hair just fine! You do not need a relaxer! I don't know why they won't do your hair. Relaxers come in mild medium and strong. But you would do fine with a regular every- day perm solution. Just get on the phone and set up a consultation with a hairdresser that knows how to do this, and is willing to do this on you.

What permanant color is the best when working with African American relaxed hair?

About four months ago I had my hair bleached to get brownest hair. I had black her. I am considering changing the color, however I would like to know what product is good. I do not want to bleach my hair again. I would like to use permanent color.

What permanant color is the best when working with African American relaxed hair?

If I were you, I'd go back to black hair.

NEVER EVER go lighter then medium brown! It will make you look disgusting and fake, not to mention a hooker.

I envy you people who have naturally black hair....and I was born a blonde!

Sometimes genetics sucks.

What permanant color is the best when working with African American relaxed hair?

For the love of God please don't go blonde or anything like that. Anyways at Walgreens (or a drug store like that) they have boxed hair dye for Black women and you don't have to bleach your hair. I had really light brown streaks in my hair and I didn't have to bleach it or anything. Just a a reminder wait at least a week after relaxing before coloring and vice versus.

What permanant color is the best when working with African American relaxed hair?

really your not supposed to do any colour if you've had your hair relaxed, or the salon where you had it relaxed shouldnt have relaxed it if you had coloured it cause relaxing it breaks so many disulfide and peptide bonds in your hair that it makes it even more brittle then it already is

What permanant color is the best when working with African American relaxed hair?

Never strip your hair of its color 2 times. Once is bad enough. Your hair could dry out and split. If anything change it back to a dark color. It is easier to go back to black. Just be careful. A cousin of mine just recently went from a honey Blonde to a orange. And her hair fell out in patches.

um, two words.. Tyra Banks.

Auburn is a beautiful color that looks great on dark skin. The only thing that would make it look wierd is if you missed a spot, lol.

Have fun with your hair, it grows back and you can always change it to fit your mood or lifestyle.

Go for it!

I am African American and I want to dye my dark brown hair auburn, do you think that my hair would look wierd?

no it wouldn't

and if you like it that's all the counts.

I am African American and I want to dye my dark brown hair auburn, do you think that my hair would look wierd?

No, not at all. That color is still dark enough to look great with your skin tone.

I am African American and I want to dye my dark brown hair auburn, do you think that my hair would look wierd?

You mean u never saw a black girl with auburn hair??? Its cute to me but you have to work it.

I am African American and I want to dye my dark brown hair auburn, do you think that my hair would look wierd?

no

I am African American and I want to dye my dark brown hair auburn, do you think that my hair would look wierd?

Yeah, I think it would look good, I know a AA w/ red hair and she look beautiful

I am African American and I want to dye my dark brown hair auburn, do you think that my hair would look wierd?

I think auburn or red hair looks the best! It should look great!

I am African American and I want to dye my dark brown hair auburn, do you think that my hair would look wierd?

It depends on your tone.I mean i am dominican and my tone is morena brown. But if u are brown do auburn streaks.I have hunny blonde streaks and it makes me look real good.lol.maybe u should try that.Whatever makes u happy is the real choice though.

I am African American and I want to dye my dark brown hair auburn, do you think that my hair would look wierd?

If you want to try something new... then who is to say you shouldent??? So, maybe it wont look natural... but then most dye jobs dont anyway so why should you be any different? I dont know if it will look weird or not since I dont know what you look like and African American skin comes in many, many different shades. Either way, if you are looking for a change, go for it and if you dont like it, you can always put it back to its natural color. Good luck!!! (I am a fan of auburn hair... personaly I like it on just about anyone!!!)

I am African American and I want to dye my dark brown hair auburn, do you think that my hair would look wierd?

I think it might look good, depending upon your complexion. I'd keep the auburn hi-lites very subtle.

Are sew-in weaves good for African American natural hair?

I was thinking of a way to grow my natural hair without messing with it much until I get it to the length I want.

Are sew-in weaves good for African American natural hair?

YES! I wear sew in weaves quite a bit and my hair grows! However, make sure you have the ends trimmed every six - eight weeks, make sure the stylist does not braid your hair too tight (this could cause breakage, especially around the edges). In addition, continue to allow your hair to "breath" and use a good conditioner and moisturizer for your own hair. Last but not least, make sure that this is a licensed professional!

Are sew-in weaves good for African American natural hair?

yeah

Are sew-in weaves good for African American natural hair?

yeah alot of African Americans have sew in weaves

Are sew-in weaves good for African American natural hair?

Good? Not really, but not bad either. As long as they aren't too tight (red bumps on scalp) then it's perfectly fine for your hair.

Are sew-in weaves good for African American natural hair?

I would never expose my rabbit to anything unnatural. If bunny is losing "hare", kill it and eat it!

Are sew-in weaves good for African American natural hair?

It is not good but the best option. Adding false hair by sewing in weaves also creates stress to the hair by styling (toughing and pulling to style hair). It is good however that your hair is natural because permed hair along with sewn in extentions is especially hard to maintain. Most importantly, it is important that you condition and moisturize your hair (not the braids) to maintain its health and also consider its length of time (three months at the most). Bottom line is the best way to gain length is to grow it.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

I'm not racist.

I'm just curious.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

It just is.

Same with Chinese and straight hair,

and Asians with fine hair but a lot of hair (thick)

These of course are only stereotypes.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

well what is it you want to know?

What is up with African Americans and hair?

I agree with the first person but will go a step further-

a blonde Italian

a swede brunette

your question is a bit ambiguous so i will say this-some embrace their natural hair, others prefer a perm (straight or curly), others prefer braids or locks, some prefer wigs, some like extensions or weaves (full or partial) but this is true of every race.

Hollywood thrives on all of the options listed above and I have worn all of them..

BTW i don't think your racist-i truly believe you are curious and hopefully i answered your question

What is up with African Americans and hair?

So what do you want to know? I'm African American and i wear my hair natural. Natural meaning i don't make it straight with chemical. I like to embrace my natural hair. Many African American females perm (Straighten)there hair. Any more question ill answer.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

Different races, obviously, have different physical features--that's what sets them apart, right? So, you're asking about blacks. They have dark skin cause it contains a lot of melanin, a natural sunblock(melanin makes your skin dark). Where they originated from there is a lot of sun, right? And they have short hair. And hair keeps you warm. But you don't really need a lot of hair in most parts of Africa. Same goes for Afr. Amers. It's part of evolution. Most black people have a really hard time managing their styles. Especially if there's very little or if it's so thick you can't get a brush thru it. Braids and extensions are very expensive. So if you have the money then it's looked at as a status symbol. But a lot don't have $1,000 to pay for a weave. So if you're broke than you basically do what you can. Some just embrace it and let it be natural. It's a sore subject for most Blacks--that's why it's such a big deal for them. I'm mixed, so mine is in between. But my sister has really thick, coarse hair. We have the same parents BTW. She never knows what to do about her hair!

What is up with African Americans and hair?

Thats the way god made them

What is up with African Americans and hair?

What do you mean what's up? More detail.

Some of us like our hair in the natural state (that means no chemicals no pressing).

Some of us like our hair straight so we add chemicals(relaxers, perms, texturizers) or we use a hot comb (pressing comb) or flat iron.

Some like colours in their life so they use a haircolor.

Some like braids, waves, extensions.

So what do you want to know?

Our hair follicles are has a much tighter curl pattern than other races. So that is why our hair is what some calls nappy. When it get wet it tightens up more. So if we add heat to our hair it straightens out the curl pattern. If we add a relaxer to our hair it relaxes the curl pattern.

Our hair does not produce that much natural oils so we have to add a hair dressing to our hair to keep moisturized, so it wont dry out, and break off.

Some of us do not have the patience or the time to wait for the hair to grow long so they add extensions, weaves, extensions.

I hope I have answered your question since your question was so vague.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

Many black choose hair styles some involve chemicals, some natural, some with hair tools, and braids %26amp; locks.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

hair sometimes is a way we describe ourselves. my hair was wavy put my mom made me get it relaxed (permed). there are different ways to make it different. i wear it natural. i dont put weave, wigs, extensions, color in it. i do wear briads but like alicia keyes. we jus like to try new things with our hair.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

AFRICAN AMERICANS HAIR IS JUST HAIR, THE HAIR IS NOT BY THE PRODUCTS LEFT OUT OF THEIR HAIR BUT WHAT IS DONE TO THEIR HAIR . RELAXERS,FLAT IRONS AND WEAVES CAN BE DAMAGING TO THEIR HAIR IF NOT PROPERLY CARED FOR , SOME AFRICAN AMERICANS HAVE DRY HAIR AND MAY NEED MORE MOISTURE THAN OTHERS, AS THEIR HAIR VARIES FROM PERSON TO PERSON JUST LIKE CAUCASIAN HAIR

Hi! I have the type of hair that can be straight or curly. You can get a rat tail comb and tease your hair till you feel that its a afro puff then spritz it with pump it up regular. Or you can just easily go the beatuy supply store and buy an afro puff piece. I recommend that you go to the chinese people who owns the hair store (not trying to be funny) rather going to Sally's. If we lived near each other I would do it for you.

I am African American and have a natural. What products work best for blowing out/straightening hair

I have pretty curly hair. I had my hair blown out once and it literally lasted about one hour. I want to get my hair blown out and have it last longer than an hour!

What products should I use to blow out my hair as well as maintain it?

Someone recommended this new product by Nexxus--but I can't remember the name of it or know where to find it. I also know someone that used a product my Loreal and her hair stayed straight for a while.

I need help...I don't want to spend 4 hours getting my hair straightened and it doesn't hold! HELP!!!!

I am African American and have a natural. What products work best for blowing out/straightening hair?

Exactly how curly is your hair? I know mine is pretty curly and I straighten it with a Ceramic flat iron and it holds pretty well as long as it dosent get wet. I usually wash it then put my oil moisturizer and garnier fructis straightening serum on it then let it air dry and just flat iron and that works pretty well as long as I don't get it wet.

I am African American and have a natural. What products work best for blowing out/straightening hair?

Ceramic flat irons and Ionic ceramic blow dryers. I also think the key is moisturizing. Condition often, and find a good moisturizer. I like to use Honey and Mayonnaise (this is the nameof the product)

It is is conditioning, no build up so you can use it once a day, and it gives the hair a nice shine. I am not natural but I have two young daughters that are natural. So I know that it take a lot to maintain it. Also, find a good no frizz serum.

I am African American and have a natural. What products work best for blowing out/straightening hair?

sun silk products work great

Whats the quickest way to grow long hair (african american )?

Hair grows about one fourth inch a month. If you are african american, you could straighten your hair, then it would look longer

Whats the quickest way to grow long hair (african american )?

Like the one person says, hair only grows a certain amount over a specified period of time. However, I believe African American hair that is properly moisturized and generally well cared for stays long and does not break as easily. The problem with our hair is not that it doesn't grow, it just breaks for one reason or another (generally speaking, though there are some people whose hair truly will not grow). I think chemicals are hard on hair. I wear relaxed hair, but I keep it braided up and I wear weave. It is pretty long under the weave! I keep it moisturized and "out of the way" of heating appliance, dyes and abuse. I can fry and dye the weave hair at will!

Also, another note...a friend of mine has never had relaxed or chemically treated hair. She has only had her hair pressed on a weekly basis. Her hair is down to the center of her back and it looks amazing! Everyone always assumes it is weaved hair, but it is all hers. AND she is not of mixed race. Both her parents are black.

Hope that helps...I don't know if there is a totally correct answer to your question. But, if there is...I wanna know too!

Whats the quickest way to grow long hair (african american )?

BioSil

It tastes horrible (extremely extremely horrible), but it's an all natural supplement that encourages the growth of hair and nails

I bought it at some all-natural health store, but it's available on-line as well:

Whats the quickest way to grow long hair (african american )?

use mane 'n tail products dont over process your hair. too many chemicals will cause breakage. try to stay away of the too tight braids, that cause your hairline to move back, or balding around the temples and side areas. keep the ends clip.

African american woman...how often do you relax your hair???

maybe every 3 or 6 months...i hate using chemicals in my hair

About once or twice a year, I can last about 5 months without a perm.

How do you care for african american permed hair?

When i had natural hair my hair was past my shoulders but now since i got a perm and cut it, ti just wont grow. I've tried almost everything by: washing,conditioning,massaging.etc. Can somebody please help me!!!

How do you care for african american permed hair?

relaxed hair is very sensitive and can be fragile if it is not taken well good care of. if u can afford it, visiting a salon every week will get it back to growing. the thing with relaxed hair, it has to be trained. washing and conditioning i very important for relaxed hair and proper trimmings to keep the ends from splitting..... dont use to much heat like hot irons and curling irons because it damages it and causes it to break off. creme of nature products are wonderful and try a grease like once a week like hair mayo or motions clear weightless oil and it also is good...

then on the other hand, the perm that u use could be too strong for your hair... if u were able to go unrelaxed then u prob have a nice grade of hair and then your hair prob jus needed a mild relaxer to keep it straight instead of wavy or curly...

jus remember

easy on the heat(irons, curlers etc.)

wash and condition(more in the summer becuz u sweat more)

grease and oil(at least once a week to keep from being dry)

good luck!!!

How do you care for african american permed hair?

just keep it moisturized with hair oil and dont mess with it too much

How do you care for african american permed hair?

the best way to care for black hair is to always keep your hair moisturised and not wet it every day .

How do you care for african american permed hair?

"Permed" (relaxed) hair can be VERY fragile. It's probably growing but breaking at the ends. Be sure you cover your hair with a silky scarf at night - you want to avoid friction that will increase breakage.

Is honey good to use for the hair?------African American?

........for growth, moisture, softness, etc.

Is honey good to use for the hair?------African American?

If you're having problems with dryness, try shampooing less. Most shampoos strip the hair and scalp of natural oils. You can rinse your hair with water or just co-wash. Co-washing is washing the hair with just conditioner. I don't shampoo. I wash my hair with baking soda and water. (I put 1/2 baking soda and 1/2 water into a bottle, shake, pour it on my head, massage for a few minutes, rinse, then condition.)

Honey is great for moisture and softness...if it's pure honey. Just warm it in the microwave, for a few seconds. Any longer than that and the honey will get too hot and lose the properties that make it helpful to hair. Then add it to your regular conditioner. I would not use honey alone as a styler though. It can get very sticky.

You can also use olive oil as a hot oil treatment, add it to your conditioner or as a pre-shampoo treatment (just massage some into your hair before you shampoo.) Coconut milk (full-fat) is good too. You can also add this to your conditioner. Be sure to refrigerate coconut milk after you open the can. Aloe vera juice is great too. Also added to conditioner.

You can use one ingredient, two ingredients, three, or all four. Experiment and see what you like. I use coconut milk, because honey, aloe vera juice and olive oil can be expensive.

Hope this helps...

My hair has the capability of being natural curly but that only happens when I plut regular hair grease on and then wet my hair. The end result I dont really like too much. So I want to know is there some product that is better and has better results?

Im african american, i want to go natural. ive been putting perms on my hair now i want to start pre

hair with a hot comb like i use to do when i was younger. Is it safe to start pressing my hair. its been a few weeks since ive had a perm. my hair is very damaged by the way with some hair thinning and a bald spot with 1/2 inch of hair.

Im african american, i want to go natural. ive been putting perms on my hair now i want to start pressing my?

It's not safe to start pressing right now, unless you want to lose the remainder of the hair that is relaxed.

The best thing to do is, is to grow the relaxer out and go for regular trims and wash and sets. Meaning, go every two weeks and get your hair washed with a good moisturizing conditioner and shampoo and then have your stylist trim 1-2 inches of the relaxer off. After all the relaxer is out and your hair is back healthy you can begin getting press and curls. But, even then you want to be careful, that's extreme heat and you may just want to stick with getting a good blow dry or try Bio Ionic, it's a flatiron and blowdry process that infuses moisturizers in the hair keeping it healthy.

If you don't want to go with the in between stages of growing you hair out, cut all the relaxer off now and start to grow your hair naturally. That way you have healthy hair all the way around.

And finally if those don't sound good I suggest getting braids or a sew in until your hair grows back in healthy and long enough for you to manage natural!

Remember always moisturize, and for the thinning area try a product called New Growth it's a concentrated hair oil in a white bottle with green writing it costs about $8 and is usually behind the counter at beauty supply stores, I gurantee it will make that area thicker! Good Luck!

Im african american, i want to go natural. ive been putting perms on my hair now i want to start pressing my?

my ex did natural and was sexy

go for it.

Im african american, i want to go natural. ive been putting perms on my hair now i want to start pressing my?

You should either let your hair grow out with protective styles [braids, twists, sew ins] or cut off the relaxed hair now. You shouldn't press your hair while transitioning because you could damage your hair even more. And to be honest, I think you should learn to love your natural texture and rock your hair proudly, because heat damage can leave some straight pieces/looser texture pieces in your hair.

Im african american, i want to go natural. ive been putting perms on my hair now i want to start pressing my?

You are going to damage your hair even more by pressing it. Let your hair get back healthy first .

How to grow kinky, poofy, african-american type hair?

I have kinky hair (I'm a female) and I was wondering if anyone, particularly those with the same type of hair, know how I can grow it? Are there any particular hair products or greases or oils, etc. that I can use to keep it moisturized and healthy so that it can grow? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

How to grow kinky, poofy, african-american type hair?

The only way to grow your hair is to avoid doing things to it that would damage it or prevent it from growing and that means treatments like straighteners, any stressful styling like braiding or extentions etc, and excessive washing. There is no product that will "make it grow" however. This is the unfortunate truth for white hair, black hair, and balding men. If you aren't into the natural look and still want longer hair extentions look better and better (read: less fake) all the time. The cost is prohibitive though. Good luck!

How to grow kinky, poofy, african-american type hair?

Just use hair oisl that contains natural herbs, vitamins. Then message your scalp and hairline area at least twice a week.

How do I care for my African American NATURAL HAIR?

I have ben growing my hair out for one year. I recently took my braids out and have decided to finally wear my natural hair. The problem is, I have had relaxed hair the majority of my life and I only know how to care for relaxed hair. How do I care for my newly natural hair? I need some tips! Thanks in advance!

How do I care for my African American NATURAL HAIR?

Curly/kinky hair needs moisture, moisture, and more moisture! . Avoid drying products such as hair spray, mousse, holding gels, etc. Opt for moisturizers, leave-in conditioners, and styling lotions. Black hair requires more oil. Look for natural oils and quality ingredients. Also when combing your hair use a wide tooth comb as oppose to fine. A fine tooth comb will just literaly rip your hair out plus it will hurt like heck.

How do I care for my African American NATURAL HAIR?

There are alot of "Natural" hair care products out there. Find one that fits your hair texture and style. You mainly want to keep your hair/scalp oiled and not dry. If it's dry it will break off easily and look damaged. Care for it just as you did your relaxed hair. Pantene's Relaxed and Natural line has a really good daily conditioner. Also, there's a product that adds extra Shine to your hair. Keep your ends trimmed and your hair will continue to grow. I think natural hair grows faster then relaxed. When I was younger my natural hair was thicker and longer then my hair now...

How should I do my African American daughter hair for school I CAN'T DO HAIR?

She's going the 3rd grade and I can't do hair. She needs a perm which I can't do! What cute hairstyle can I give her for school? I can't braid. She wants her hair flat ironed like mine but her hair is to thick I can't DO IT!

How should I do my African American daughter hair for school I CAN'T DO HAIR?

Hi There, if I can first make a recommendation, please, do NOT get her a perm/relaxer. It will open up a whole new can of difficulties for you and your little one, and weaken the strength of her natural hair.

I'm black, and I flat iron my hair once a week after washing and air drying it, because I prefer to wear it straight. When I don't my hair is super curly, kind of like the singer Mya, but NEVER dry or poofy, anymore.

Two years ago, I got tired of using the "greases" and oils being sold for black hair on the market and stopped using them. After that, I started a company of natural products especially for black and biracial hair called Humble. I saw too much need, too much hype (even among the natural companies), and too many promises that didn't deliver.

My bf is white and uses it on her daughters' hair, one like mine, the other has thick, curly, and coarse hair. When she flat irons it with Humble, their hair is straight, non-poofy, and has gorgeous shine. I've got the before and afters.

I apologize for sounding like an advertisement, but it does work. I have talked to social/case workers, work with an adoption agency, and work with parents who didn't know what to do with their children's black hair. It is challenging, but you CAN do it, with some help.

Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to see pics of some of the children whose parents use Humble. The site should be up Sept. 15, if you'd care to wait until then to see the pics, however.

I wish you all the best.

How should I do my African American daughter hair for school I CAN'T DO HAIR?

take her to a professional hairstylist and watch what she does. maybe put it in a ponytail, w/ some cute barretes

How should I do my African American daughter hair for school I CAN'T DO HAIR?

You have to flat iron her hair in layers if its thick. My hair is thick and it has to be done in layers otherwise it will not work.

How should I do my African American daughter hair for school I CAN'T DO HAIR?

buy a how to book

watch a professional do it

How should I do my African American daughter hair for school I CAN'T DO HAIR?

I would advise that you take her to your local African American salon because I have thick hair and unmanagable hair and I go to the salon and it looks fin if you wrap it at night...just take her to a salon or tell her you can't do her hair like yours hey she's only going to third grade. Or you could either go to the store and get motions products which works fo ethnic hair and it's pretty good so at least you canmanage her hair

How should I do my African American daughter hair for school I CAN'T DO HAIR?

If you don't have time to find someone--which I'm sure you could do--friends..anyone-lol. I would just put in in a high ponytail and let it fro--I think that looks cute. Or fro'd with a nice headband. kinda a retro look. good luck

How should I do my African American daughter hair for school I CAN'T DO HAIR?

Please do not relax that baby's hair. Because you would really have to make sure that you keep her hair moisturized. Just find someone that can braid it down. Not only is it convenient it is also good for the hair.

Hi i am a African American and i need to know how to spike my hair.....is it possible?? and How??

You can do it with gels but most gels are made for White hair and the alcohol in the gels could be very drying to your hair. I would say do it for special occasions but take the time to wash it out. Don't leave in too long.

Hi i am a African American and i need to know how to spike my hair.....is it possible?? and How??

Help?! Straightening out my African-American kinky hair?

Hi,

I want to straighten out my hair. I once tried hot-combing it..it got straight for a while, but as the hours went by, my hair started to get puffier and puffier back to its original state due to my sweat and the heat outside. I want to know what can I do to straighten out my hair for at least days and make it stay straightened without using chemicals? Thanks =]

Help?! Straightening out my African-American kinky hair?

DO NOT USE HAIRSPRAY

you need 5 things:

1.) a good moisturizing shampoo/conditioner

2.) a ceramic flat iron

3.) straightening balm( i use motions sheen spray tho)

4.) a glossy spray

5.) silk scarf

wash and dry hair.put some leave in conditioner in your wet hair.let dry,or blow dry.then put some of the balm on the hair and flat iron it.Then finish with some of the glossy spray and it'll be shiny and soft.

Help?! Straightening out my African-American kinky hair?

put lots of anti frizz stuff and hair spray in your hair

Help?! Straightening out my African-American kinky hair?

I hate to break it to you honey....but that is not going to happen. Black hair is curly because of the strong sulfur bonds in the proteins that it is made of. Heat straightening temporarily weakens those bonds, but water/humidity can get it back to its original state. CHemicals actually break the bonds permanently, exposing the hair to all sorts of damage, but creating a permanently straightened look.

What you could do is get your hair heat straightened at a Dominican salon which a high heat blow-dryer or hot comb...and be careful to stay dry during the day and be prepared to touch-up often on your own

Help?! Straightening out my African-American kinky hair?

hey one of my daughters is 1/2 black and her hair was like yours. I used this stuff by John Friedman called: Xtream it straightins with heat when u blow dry it or use a flat iron it works so good and last. just dont get your hair wet cause it will be puffy again :) try it i hope it works for you.

Help?! Straightening out my African-American kinky hair?

Honestly, I can't think of anything that isn't semi permanent, other than a relaxer.

However, I have had some luck with the MATRIX brand Sleek.look Styling serum. It's in an orange spray bottle. Mizani and a couple of other brands like it may have some things you might like. And, I think just about anyone will tell you to look at cuticle sealing serums, if you are going to use heat to straighten your hair. Depending on where you live, you might want to check out Miss Jessie's products. But I like My Honey Child. Just type in the name Miss Jessie's into your search browser. You might like what you see and you may not.

I wear my hair natural, but when I do straighten it, I use a good flat iron, roll my hair with a moisturizer on the ends, and put natural oil (like lavendar or olive oil) on my scalp. That works for me, but you should try some diffrent things out.

Help?! Straightening out my African-American kinky hair?

my hair is the same way...i use isoplus pressing oil when i use the straightening comb, it keeps my hair straight for two weeks until i decide to wash it, without puffing...all i do is straighten it then wrap it at night

I am light-skin african american with green eyes what color should I dye my hair?

I've been wanting to dye or highlight my hair for a while. I would like to either put dark burgandy or dark red highlights in it or dye it black with a deep red/burgandy tint. Which would be best given my skin tone? or are there other colors that wouls look best on me? BTW my natural hair color is dark brown. any help would be appreciated. TY

Like a light blonish brown sorda type that is so pretty!

Dark brown would look good on you. If you aren't very dark skinned, I would'nt die it black because it could look too extreme..I would go with dark brown.

Oprah's had some nice golden highlights in her hair lately and I love all of her curls.

Avoid too-dark colours like black, which can look too unnatural and harsh for your skin-tone.

Also, look to pictures of Tyra Banks, she has the same features as you and she always looks great!!

I am light-skin african american with green eyes what color should I dye my hair?

you sound just beautiful, I would suggest softest brown with no color high lights.....it's just so over used....maybe a soft honey blond if you do it lightly....using a soft brown eyeliner with little or no eyelash makeup. good luck...

I am light-skin african american with green eyes what color should I dye my hair?

Sweetie, I have cousins that are high yellow too with green eyes, and let me tell you coloring your hair darker is not the way to go. It will look very harsh against the very bright skin you have. I think you should do a base color which would be light brown, and then get honey blond highlights put in. Dark hair is not going to flatter your skin complexion. It's just going to make you look paler. I'm light caramel, and I usually will color my hair a light golden brown to match my skin tone, and I get so many compliments about it. I know your a lot lighter, but you could get away with a really bright color, and it will give your skin a really nice glow if you went with the honey blond highlights. You sound like a pretty girl so choose something that will continue to bring out your beauty!

I am light-skin african american with green eyes what color should I dye my hair?

You would actually look very pretty in many colors. A medium, golden or reddish brown would be gorgeous if you wanted to go lighter. Another option that I think would be pretty that I don't recommend often is a soft, natural black. It would be a great contrast with your green eyes and lighter skin.

If u dont have enough money-still get to stylist for tips and seasonal appointments but keep ur hair braided in the interim. I recommend starting by going to the salon and getting it trimmed ever six to eight weeks so that you get no split ends which can weaken the hair and aid in the prevention of growth. Along with regular trims, you'll need to use a good shampoo and conditioner line. I recommend Carol's Daughters which (Jada Pinkett Smith) uses, or Beauty 4 Ashes. ehow.com has a section on how to treat and grow African American hair. Also try growafrohairlong.com, and hairoil.com. Good luck.

Be sure too keep your moisturized and conditioned. Also Jojoba makes a very good moisturizing garlic conditioner.

Lavender oil has been shown to increase hair growth so massage the oil once a week and soak for 30 minutes before washing. Try http://solutionsforhairgrowth.blogspot.c... for more details.

I am an African American woman and i want to grow out my natural hair long, what tips can you give me?

Hi there,

One of the best things you can do for your natural hair is conditioner washes. This is where you only use conditioner to wash your hair. My favorite conditioner for this is Suave Coconut Naturals. You can shampoo your hair once a week but the rest of the time, just conditioner-wash.

Deep condition your hair at least once a month or every two weeks. Deep condition with heat under a hooded dryer. I'd recommend using a thicker, richer conditioner for this like Nexxus Humectress.

Get your hair trimmed every 2-3 months. You shouldn't get many split ends if you're using no-heat styles. However, naturally curly hair tends to form knots on the ends which also need trimming.

Use a creamy leave-in conditioner (i.e. Neutrogena Silk Touch) and a moisturizer to style your curls. Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter and Hair Milk are excellent products for natural hair.

As far as using grapeseed oil, aloe vera gel, glycerine - you can add small amounts of these products to your conditioner if you like. However, I just don't think it's necessary and just adds an additional cost to your hair product budget as well as additional time.

I hope you can determine a regimen from the information that I've given you and get your natural hair to your desired length!

Good Luck!

Where can I find good products for my daughter's hair? She's half white, half African Amer

http://www.curls.biz

http://www.missjessies.com (if you live in NY you can go to the salon and give her a silkener if you are thinking about chemical treatment, which you shouldn't unless you are willing to risk her going bald at the expense of having straight hair, which is overrated anyway and will not differentiate her from all the other little girls.) The products are also good. Try the baby butter cream,

http://www.mixedchicks.net

http://www.carolsdaughter.com is also good. You should go to all of the and check them out.

I am african american and i just had a baby in May, my hair is starting to shed?

is there any type of vitamins ot hair products that i can use

I am african american and i just had a baby in May, my hair is starting to shed?

I noticed this right after I gave birth. I didn't ever try to use anything, because it wasn't noticeable amounts of hair I was losing, but I can tell you that for me after about 8-9 months, I have basically stopped "losing hair." My guess is that it is a hormone thing, and as your hormones level out, this problem will fade. Otherwise, check with your doctor because it could be a sign of a bigger problem!

I am african american and i just had a baby in May, my hair is starting to shed?

you should check with your doctor - it could be a hormone imbalance.

I am african american and i just had a baby in May, my hair is starting to shed?

Are you getting enough vitamins and nutrients in your body? Sometimes lack of iron and/or other vitamins can make your hair fall out a little bit. If you're really worried about it I would talk to your doctor and ask her about it.

I am african american and i just had a baby in May, my hair is starting to shed?

Try Vitamin E capsules and Perm Repair cream. You can use it whether you have a perm or not and it grows your hair back nicely.

I am african american and i just had a baby in May, my hair is starting to shed?

Unfortunately, this is caused by hormonal changes. Keep taking your multivitamin and deep condition your hair once a week. I tried a mix of avocado, almond and vitamin E oils. Mix, warm it up, put on your hair and wrap your hair with saran wrap. Let penetrate, then shampoo ans used alight conditioner. I found that hair rollers were better that to blow drying.

I am african american and i just had a baby in May, my hair is starting to shed?

When you were pregnant, all the extra estrogen caused your hair to thicken and grow. What you are losing now is the new growth, now that you are no longer producing the excess estrogen. It usually takes 2-4 months from the time of birth to start noticing the effects of estrogen loss, which is why you are just now seeing it. It is your hair going into the resting phase (telogen). It should stop coming out in about a month. However, if it continues longer, see a dermotologist and then an endocrinologist. Have your estrogen checked at that point as it may have dropped too low, thus allowing your natural testosterone (yes, we women have it too) to create DHT, which attacks your hair follicles.

I am african american and i just had a baby in May, my hair is starting to shed?

Basically while you are pregnant the hormones in your body keep the normal cycle from happening. Normally, your hair will shed naturally and slowly to the point that you really don't notice it. The hormones in your body during pregnancy keep that from happening completely. About 3 months after and later, your hormone levels start to go back to normal. At this point, all the hair that has been staying because of the hormones begins falls out naturally. This is why many women's hair gets much thicker during pregnancy. If it feels like you are losing more then before you ever got pregnant, I would definately discuss it with your doctor. I am 33 weeks pregnant and close to having my 3rd child. I have gone through this everytime. My hair gets extremely thick, and then once I have had the baby, within a few months, it starts to shed. Every woman is different in the amounts that they retain/lose post pregnancy. Keep in mind this is a normal occurance. I hope this helps.

I am african american and i just had a baby in May, my hair is starting to shed?

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

Are they trying to emulate white ppl or are they ashamed of their nappy hair?

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

They do it for the same reason other people with curly hair straighten theirs. They're trying to conform to the current standard for beauty which happens to be straight hair. Most ethnic features aren't considered the standard, therefore people of minority groups usually torture themselves in order to look like the standard.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I think its because African Americans dont like nappy hair. They see what their hair is capable of and they go for it. Regardless of the risks. Perms for African Americans can really damage growth, especially if its given at a young age. So I guess thats my answer.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I think its just a preference of style. Maybe they don't think its necessary, but they just want to. Like I wear green contacts lenses because I always wanted green eyes....?

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

It's just the style they like. If they want straight hair, fine. If they want "nappy" hair, go for it. We're all people here, and our hair should be the least of concerns in who we are.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I think it is from centuries of being brainwashed into thinking that "black" hair is not "good" hair. It is a trick used by white oppressors to make black people feel inferior.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

Speaking as an African American woman I relax my hair because I like it straight not because I am ashamed of nappy hair or am I trying to be something I am not.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

African American hair is very versatile and perming is only one of many beautiful and convenient ways to wear it. Why do refer to your hair style as "dreads", as in dreadful?

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I refuse to turn this into a racial issue.

They do what they want.

No, I do not say this sarcastically.

A friend of mine processes her hair soley for the fact that she finds straight hair easier to take care of.

It 's the opposite of what happened in the 80's when everyone was crimping their hair, except it is just as damaging.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

For the same reason other races change their hairstyls. Black women are not the only ones who get weaves, perm or color their hair. infact all races do it. I have a white friend from Finland who told me she relaxed her hair at a black salon and people were making a big deal about it. Think about how many natural blondes you know or how many nonblack celebrities have fake hair. I perm my hair sometimes but it doesnt make me any less black , it is just my personal decision.I am proud of who i am and my occasional fro.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I am an African American girl, and I feel that it is necessary to relax my hair because I know it looks a mess when it's natural. I'm not trying to impress anyone by straightening it, I just don't want to look like a dust bunny.

My mom allowed me to get a perm because combing nappy hair was tiring. Having straight hair, it's easier to do certain styles.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I think that African American women feel it necessary to relax their hair because straighter hair seems to be easier to manage and style. Aside from that it seems to be more acceptable in the work place etc etc...For the most part I don't believe that many african american women are ashamed of their nappy hair, although there may be some who exist that are. I do think that the roots of all of this may stem from the fact that many African American women are trying to emulate white people...there is always that possibility.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I got my hair relaxed b/c I was tired of the wavy curly hair I had, it was just a horrible nightmare for me, but yes, I can see your point of view.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

Several people believe they absolutely have to get perms so it will make their hair more manageable and silky-like. My hair is natural thick curly hair and i love my hair texture, if i want it straight or more wavy than curly--I use a little heat. My hair is easy to comb and style because i know how to take care of it and i use the correct conditioners, detanglers and moisturizers. Our hair will never be that silky-silky texture though when we relax or flat iron our hair, it is our version of silk hair. I am growing my hair out long and I am not trying to emulate white women. Black women (like any woman of any other race in this world) can have long hair to if they correctly take care of it and let it grow. It's nonsense for people to think that women and our race can't or should not have long hair just because white women have long hair so it means we don't love ourselves or something. White, Latino, Mexican, spanish, Asian women and even women in africa have hair down their backs after years of growth and maintenance. I have friends form different cities in africa and most of them have long, wavy hair down their backs--a couple maintain short hairstyles unless they get braids. My sisters still relax their hair though and it's not about emulating white women. They feel that's the best method for controlling their hair the easiest way. Some women do have pretty looking relaxed hair that is healthy and strong with a nice sheen to it. Personally, i do believe that if you can't comb through your hair or it's matted together...it's not right. God gave black women beautiful hair too and whether we wear it relaxed or natural, long or short--it's vital that we take care of it (conditioning and moisturizing) and keep it strong and healthy. Unlike my sisters, I take a little longer to detangle or comb my hair of course. I have pride in my natural hair. They have pride in their relaxed hair--and i don't think anything is wrong with either. It's my choice and it's their choice.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I don't think it's that necessary. Most black women I see just put lotion in their hair, put their hair up, or cut it a certain way and they look really great. But I guess hair-straightening is okay if it's done safely. I knew of a girl years ago who was temporarily blinded after she had a bad straightening chemical put in her hair and it dripped down into her eyes when she was sweating. I'm white, but my hair is naturally wavy and I just use a boar's hair brush to keep it in control. Those things work wonders, and are worth the price.

As for the racial side of this, though, I don't think that hairstyle is a top priority in the debate over racial equality. I know I'm a silly suburban white girl and all that, but when I went to school and learned about the Civil Rights Movement I didn't hear any lectures on hair-related racism. Segregation, Jim Crow and Martin Luther King were discussed a lot, but not hair. I think it's just a style thing, and not to be taken seriously. There are more important things in life.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

we relax our hair cause thats how we want it...straight.holla at me

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

i dont know maybe they want longer hair one of my friends told me relaxers would make my hair straight and i used one box and my hair felt like a rubber band

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

NO, I'M NOT TRYING TO LOOK OR ACT WHITE. I'm tried of adding heat to my hair. Heat cause your hair to dry out and break off. I prefer to add a relaxer, so I can roll it up nightly, and take a shower without me hot combing the edges in the morning. Never ashamed of nappy hair, but you cant work in an office with a $400 suit on and your hair look nappy. That does not look right, or professional.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

If you take great pride in your natural hair - great! I wear my hair natural; I love the texture and the fact that I can't comb my hair. Many people are envious of the fact that can have totally different hairstyles each day because of what the texture allows me to do.

Some black woman can't deal with it. They simply want to be able to put a comb through their hair. That's not wrong, that's just personal preference.

How to make african american thick hair grow long and faster?

My hair is exactly at the tip of my shoulder, but i want it to be like at least 3inches past my shoulder. I braid my hair a lot and I will admit it does a lot, but i need more. I dont want to wear a weave for my senior pictures in may of 2008 or for senior prom and blah. I dont believe in cutting my split ends. Trust after a couple years of that I see that it does nothing. I need some REAL useful products, tips, advice, recipes, and blah to make my hair grow before may 2008. Be specific. lol..thanx

How to make african american thick hair grow long and faster?

Go to GNC %26amp; get NourishHair. It's a multi-vitamin that's made to help out your hair. It only costs $17 for a 2 month supply ! I have been using it for the past month %26amp; have noticed that my new growth/roots are in unbelievable shape ! (plus, the Biotin in the vitamin helps make your hair grow quicker/stronger)

How to make african american thick hair grow long and faster?

every night brush ure hair 100 times and ure hair will grow..grass hoppa

How to make african american thick hair grow long and faster?

the only thing i can recommend is a good multivitamin and extra bi0tin, that helps with making the hair stronger, als0 y0u mayb f0r right n0w wanna chill 0ut with al0t 0f heat and d0 regular deep conditions.. deep conditions make the hair stronger als0 and if the hair is stronger it will not break.. dont use so much heat to decrease the chance of breakage and if you do all of those things your hair will grow by 2008 i don't know if it will grow where you want it but it will definitely grow, or improve in texture *thickness*

How to make african american thick hair grow long and faster?

well... i have thick hair too.. although i am biracial (Indian %26amp; black) um to make my hair grow longer i stopped relaxing it and styled it naturally... i stopped blowdrying it because the heat is bad for hair cuticles (let it airdry)... i use vive by loreal the orange bottle and it helped my hair from breaking... also stop braiding ur hair so much because that does damage ur hair especially if its breaking! get it trimmed to remove any split ends and dont wrap ur hair at night... i know what they say wrap ur hair so that ur hair can stay moisturized but it does nothing but add to ur splitting ends! dont over use on hair products if ur going to use it use it in moderation... try not to expose ur hair to the sun again with the heat and now uv rays the sun is ur enemy! so where a hat or tie ur hair in a bun or something... dont overly brush ur hair either... if ur going to leave it natural only brush/comb while its wet... but if you want ur hair to be straight get a PROFESSIONAL ceramic iron... i know this is going to be causely but its worth the investment trust me... it wont damage ur hair like fake me out ceramic irons or cheap irons... the price u should be looking at it about $150... before i had changed my routine my hair could not grow longer than my shoulder without it looking trashy at the ends but now my hair is to my belly button and i get compliments on how beautiful my hair looks even when i do nothing to it!

stop chemically treating it.

Stop braiding it.

Take prenatal vitamins... even if you are not pregnant, they make your hair grow faster, thicker and give you beautiful nails too.

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

Well it's brown in your pic, so I'm guessing quit bleaching it

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

Yes, I've tried everything and in all my years of weaves, braids, home relaxers, wigs, coloring...

I finally realize that the only way to help black hair grow healthy is to leave it alone. Don't do anything to your hair by yourself. Find a great beautician that doesn't believe in frying and dying hair; Someone whose goal for all customers is healthy hair. Once you find this hair stylist, go to them every other week. Let them wash, condition, cut and style your hair. Don't do anything permanent to your hair at home. This may be expensive, but it is the only way to get long healthy hair. Good Luck.

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

For most African Americans, hair growth can be difficult because we buy most, if not all, of our hair care products from traditional and chinese beauty supply stores. When you do this, you buy a hair-damaging useless product that claim to be 鈥渁ll-natural" and for super hair growth. However, they contain synthetic emulsifiers and harsh detergents, such as Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Phosphates, Dimethicone, and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Unfortunately, these products are loaded with toxins and chemicals that actually dry and strip your hair of vital nutrients it needs to grow.

I learned that unnatural hair care products are a no-no for someone who wants long-lasting, healthy hair growth.

The key to growing long black hair is finding a hair growth product that contains powerful essential oils, natural herbs, and vitamin rich nutrients your hair needs to survive. Look for products with ingredients such as: Aloe Vera, Citrus Fruits, Jojoba, Rosemary, and Sage. Make sure you stray away from all natural products that use natural extracts. Extracts are not as powerful as essentials oils. They are a cheap substitute for the real thing. Although there are several natural hair care products on the market, not all hair growth products are created equal. Make sure you read the fine print. Most 鈥渘atural鈥?products still contain phosphates, sodium lauryl sulfate, petroleum, mineral oil, and other lab created humectants that ultimately damage your hair. My advice---if you can鈥檛 read the ingredients, don鈥檛 buy the product. When I was searching for a natural hair growth product, I found one really great buy, Beauty 4 Ashes Super Hair Growth System. Finding this company took me awhile; but Beauty 4 Ashes pretty much gives you everything you need to make your hair grow. Foremost, I checked the ingredient listings and the products contained no artificial ingredients. The system also included hair growth vitamins, a great hair healthy eating plan, and even scalp stimulating hair growth exercise routine. At first, the system may seem a bit pricey, but, boy was I impressed with the results. In 9 months, I went from a thinning hair line to a full head of hair that could be braided. My sister is now using the system and her hair has grown 3" in 2 months. Now, I am no product junkie; but I have to tell you that this product is worth the money. It does not cost an arm and leg and it is worth every penny you pay. You can find it easily at www.discoverb4a.com. Also, check for it on Ebay. You may actually find a deal.

get a good shampoo, then you also need to get a reconstructor conditioner, and then a deep conditioner, and then a leave in sprayin conditioner,

and you need t use these every time you wash your hair,

then when you dont you need to get like a moisturizer, like lusters pink moisturizing lotion so you can put in your hair and then like a light hair grease like, optimum light hair grease, then it should be okay, and regualary cut split ends so your hair looks healthy

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

I grow mine by putting braid extensions in myself to protect the ends. I do not let other people braid my hair because they do it too tight resulting in hair loss.I also use jojoba oil on my hair, keep it well conditioned using an occasional deep conditioner (monthly atleast) and baby shampoo.

I shampoo in the shower with either cold water or luke warm water. I shampoo two times with just enough shampoo and then follow with a conditioner such as main n tail...rinse most of it out and leave a little in.. then I follow with jojoba oil.

When remove all of the braids I gently pull my natural hair apart. This has to be done because of demarcation. Your hair naturally sheds and mats together when you put braid extensions in.

I also eat more veggies, take flax seed oil, drink plenty of water and eat lean protein (3 x day and take a protein shake before bed). I have a total of 5 to six small meals a day. My hair also grew started growing faster when I went on a bodybuilding diet that I slightly modified.

You can take prenatal vitamins like suggested or you can take a multivitamin ,plus amino fuel, plus biotin, or you could purchase hairformula37 vitamins only from www.FasterHairGrowth.com .

I suggest eating right, no coffee and limit you junk food intake. Instead opt for healthy snacks such as fruits or veggies, maybe a good whole grain bar.

Also, massage your scalp for 5 minutes daily. Wear a satin scarf or get a satin pillow case. Do not use heavy oils in your hair, use light oils. Jojaba oil is good. I hear Camillia oil is suppose to be a beauty secret and possibly hard to find unless you know where to find it. You can purchase it for hair online or skin. Pure form is best. Mane n Tail shampoo and conditioner will protect your hair and result in longer hair.

Other supplements know to work are silica (models use) or selinium. You will find something that works for you. There are various things you can do to get your hair to grow faster but I like the hairformula 37 or multivitins with amino fuel (only use one regime or the other). When I use either of these along with a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, braids and scalp massage...I acheive faster growth. Braids grow my hair because my hair is not being exposed to heat. So if you chose not to do braids I would suggest using mane n tail and trying not to put much heat on your hair.
