What is up with African Americans and hair?

I'm not racist.

I'm just curious.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

It just is.

Same with Chinese and straight hair,

and Asians with fine hair but a lot of hair (thick)

These of course are only stereotypes.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

well what is it you want to know?

What is up with African Americans and hair?

I agree with the first person but will go a step further-

a blonde Italian

a swede brunette

your question is a bit ambiguous so i will say this-some embrace their natural hair, others prefer a perm (straight or curly), others prefer braids or locks, some prefer wigs, some like extensions or weaves (full or partial) but this is true of every race.

Hollywood thrives on all of the options listed above and I have worn all of them..

BTW i don't think your racist-i truly believe you are curious and hopefully i answered your question

What is up with African Americans and hair?

So what do you want to know? I'm African American and i wear my hair natural. Natural meaning i don't make it straight with chemical. I like to embrace my natural hair. Many African American females perm (Straighten)there hair. Any more question ill answer.

Different races, obviously, have different physical features--that's what sets them apart, right? So, you're asking about blacks. They have dark skin cause it contains a lot of melanin, a natural sunblock(melanin makes your skin dark). Where they originated from there is a lot of sun, right? And they have short hair. And hair keeps you warm. But you don't really need a lot of hair in most parts of Africa. Same goes for Afr. Amers. It's part of evolution. Most black people have a really hard time managing their styles. Especially if there's very little or if it's so thick you can't get a brush thru it. Braids and extensions are very expensive. So if you have the money then it's looked at as a status symbol. But a lot don't have $1,000 to pay for a weave. So if you're broke than you basically do what you can. Some just embrace it and let it be natural. It's a sore subject for most Blacks--that's why it's such a big deal for them. I'm mixed, so mine is in between. But my sister has really thick, coarse hair. We have the same parents BTW. She never knows what to do about her hair!

What is up with African Americans and hair?

Thats the way god made them

What is up with African Americans and hair?

What do you mean what's up? More detail.

Some of us like our hair in the natural state (that means no chemicals no pressing).

Some of us like our hair straight so we add chemicals(relaxers, perms, texturizers) or we use a hot comb (pressing comb) or flat iron.

Some like colours in their life so they use a haircolor.

Some like braids, waves, extensions.

So what do you want to know?

Our hair follicles are has a much tighter curl pattern than other races. So that is why our hair is what some calls nappy. When it get wet it tightens up more. So if we add heat to our hair it straightens out the curl pattern. If we add a relaxer to our hair it relaxes the curl pattern.

Our hair does not produce that much natural oils so we have to add a hair dressing to our hair to keep moisturized, so it wont dry out, and break off.

Some of us do not have the patience or the time to wait for the hair to grow long so they add extensions, weaves, extensions.

I hope I have answered your question since your question was so vague.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

Many black choose hair styles some involve chemicals, some natural, some with hair tools, and braids %26amp; locks.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

hair sometimes is a way we describe ourselves. my hair was wavy put my mom made me get it relaxed (permed). there are different ways to make it different. i wear it natural. i dont put weave, wigs, extensions, color in it. i do wear briads but like alicia keyes. we jus like to try new things with our hair.

What is up with African Americans and hair?

AFRICAN AMERICANS HAIR IS JUST HAIR, THE HAIR IS NOT BY THE PRODUCTS LEFT OUT OF THEIR HAIR BUT WHAT IS DONE TO THEIR HAIR . RELAXERS,FLAT IRONS AND WEAVES CAN BE DAMAGING TO THEIR HAIR IF NOT PROPERLY CARED FOR , SOME AFRICAN AMERICANS HAVE DRY HAIR AND MAY NEED MORE MOISTURE THAN OTHERS, AS THEIR HAIR VARIES FROM PERSON TO PERSON JUST LIKE CAUCASIAN HAIR
