Can an African American Newborn Baby Have Straight hair?

I know not all are born with straight hair. Are most of them born with straight hair since they just came out there mother uterus where it may be moist?

Can an African American Newborn Baby Have Straight hair?

Gees, these people are so mad at you for nothing. I understand what you are asking, since most black people have really nappy hair, as babys too. So, yes, they can come out with straight hair, but typically it can be a bit on the nappy side, depending upon the parents hair type.

Can an African American Newborn Baby Have Straight hair?

THATS SUCH A STERO TYPE ALL BLACK PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE NAPPPY HAiR..THEY CAN HAVE STRAiGHT THiCK HAiR..i GUESS YOU jUS NEVER SEEN NONE BUT WHEN i WAS BORN i DiD HAVE STRAiGHT BEAUTiFUL HAiR..%26amp;%26amp; MOST OF THE TiME THEEY HAiR GETS COURSE BECAUSE THEY'RE PARENTS DONT TAKE CARE OF iT..

Can an African American Newborn Baby Have Straight hair?

Have u ever seen an African child born? Try tuning into a baby story and maybe that'll answer your question. You need to become a bit more cultured and not so closed minded.

Can an African American Newborn Baby Have Straight hair?

Anyone can have any type of hair, I've seen white people with wooly afros.

All babies are born with soft hair, it's only after a few months their real hair texture comes out.

And Baby Jackson momma, you obviously don't know what black woman go through as far as their hair is concerned, for you to say "Gees lighten up"

Can an African American Newborn Baby Have Straight hair?

I came out with soft curly hair when I was born, we all did in my family. Not all black babies are born with nappy hair, almost none are. I have long straight hair now and its not fake either. Why do people always ask these stupid questions?? Like black people are such a mystery, we are just like any other human. I don't ask why other races are the way that they are. I'm sure you didn't ask this question to be rude but sometimes it helps to stop and think if its even worth asking. In this case it isn't. It just opens a door to fighting.

For African Am...Is hair locking gel permanent???

I have natural african american kinky hair. I bought locking gel hoping that it would allow my twists to stay in longer before they have to be redone (i also take the twists/braids out to get a curly hair style). Would it make the twists/curles permanent or physically and/or chemically alter my hair and turn it into dreads??? (the most I'd plan to keep them in is 1 week max...i like to wash my hair at least once a week.)

For African Am...Is hair locking gel permanent???

no it doesnt even get that hard!!!!!!! You will be fine trust me!

For African Am...Is hair locking gel permanent???

first of all, dreads do not chemically alter your hair. now, the answer to your question is no. the locking gel is just like any other gel. it will hold your hair how it is, but if you wash it out, your hair goes back to it's pre-gelled condition. the only thing different about locking gell is that it's flake-free and i think it's gentler and doesn't dry your hair as much.

For African Am...Is hair locking gel permanent???

I think it will lock in your twist to dreads.*WARNING* the gel will mae your hair tight and may cause your hair to breack off.

For African Am...Is hair locking gel permanent???

No, dreads take months to form so leaving twists in for a week with dread gel is perfectly fine, especially if your washing it out. Just be sure to keep your twists moisturized so its easier to wash out the gel when its time for you to shampoo.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

Why must you make your hair so stiff and ugly with those chemicals?! It looks so...FAKE! If you must use a straightening iron ONCE in a while or braid it...But please, you're messing up your natural hair! Any thoughts?

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

you ignorant fool.

Relaxers were created to manage African American hair easily. It has NOTHING to do with being white! Sheesh, asians have straighter hair than a lot of white people. So am i trying to be asian??Do you know how easily black hair breaks or how thick it can be??? You need to know how to PROPERLY take care of it, which a lot of ppl don't. That's why most moms just relax their daughters hair. And I know sooo many women with relaxed hair that look nice- with bouncy LONG hair!! I have NOTHING against natural hair, in fact I kinda like it. I have just always have had my relaxed hair so I'm used to it. If I suddenly went natural, I wouldn't be able to care for it at all.

I don't get offended easily- but I am offended now.

Get a life you f*cking dumbazz

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

lolz okay, thanx Report It

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

i dont know, they don like it?

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

why do white girls go to tanning beds? who cares-to each their own!

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

fashion

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

I believe it has something to do with fashion.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

maybe that's what makes them feel beautiful

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

People with curls want straight hair.

People with straight hair want curls.

White people want to be tanned.

People want what they don't have.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

Because our society has them fooled into thinking its not pretty.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

Personal preference, I would think.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

I'm black.

%26amp;%26amp; my hair is natural.

I always get compliments.

I figure, hey, since everyone is relaxing their hair, I'll stand out cause I'll be the only one without chemicals in my hair.

Although I have tried relaxing my hair but it broke my hair off :(

It's mostly better now though.

I love [for the most part] the way my hair looks :)

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

Why do people give a damn about the color of others skin, we are ALL people. Screw classification of people.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

beats me...they look better when its curly

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

because they want to "fit in" but I think that they are very beautiful the way they are with their natural curls i wish my hair was that way

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

i agree! i stopped putting chemicals (perm) in my hair because it took a lot of my hair out, and i am growing it out natural. but i get it pressed instead, so it's still straight. but when all the perm is grown out, I'm going to stop getting it pressed and i will wear a fro like my avatars hair.

but, yeah, it's just what some people like. our hair tends to be extremely hard to manage when it is not straight.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

Well, I'm not african american, and I have very tight curly hair. I like to straighten it because its much easier to take care of. If I'm in a rush, I just wake up and brush, and I'm ready to go.

BTW, not all African american women straighten their hair.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

Isnt their hair like hard to grow or something?

Most black people I know don't really keep their hair long, and if they do, its a weave.

I heard their haird tangles easily or something...idk not sure.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

even though i'm not black, i have curly hair, so i know it's super hard to manage. but personally i like hair curly.. i think it has more character. but yea.. straight hair is a lot easier to take care of

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

answer to your question, it's just the way they like there hair %26amp; noboby can tell anyone how to do there hair etc

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

Many Ladies of Color are born with Straight hair.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

maybe it is harder for them to manage.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

they're are like other people too

I guess the "in" style is straight hair right now...

its their hair... and most females rather have straight hair compare to curly hair

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

We usually want what we don't have - I would LOVe to have curly or kinky hair. I think all races are beautiful, and the spectrum of beauty is so great across and within races - I just think that it is the same reason some tall people want to be shorter, and some heavy people want to be skinny - we are taught and programmed to want to be what society tells us is the ideal -sad but true.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

stay true to your roots....we can not change ourself for others..this is there job to like us as we are.......

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

well it really is there decision on wether they want to straighten it or not. but im pretty sure not all african american women do that to there hair. but i agree with you that we should keep our natural beauty and not change it with plastic surgery or hair straightning/ hair perming. i have curly hair and always wanted straight hair but my mum told me your always wanting what you dont have so i now love my curly hair and i think african american women should do the same.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

It a personal choice. You must remember that our natural looks are just now being accepted in corporate America. Say what you will, but hair is a small sacrifice to make when it comes to your livelihood.

Like India.Arie said, "I am not my hair." My hair is just a part of me.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

I have no clue my neighbor is from Jamaica and she has the most beautiful curly hair. i am like i wish i has your hair. I really wish she didn`t get it straitened

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

I dont know about the "we want what we dont have" thing I mean it seems like people just make themselves miserable for no reason that way. I'm not AA but I love my curly hair and tan skin. But I can appreciate the other extremes too.

Anyway right now it's the fashion; celebrities are doing it too. Unfortunately there is no pride right now for ethnic hair and I wish it would be different. As much as fashion is allowing women to do what's best for them and not what's "in" this is one of the things that didn't change...

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

Because African-American women normally feel like they have to conform to the "white norms" of society.

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

People go to hair salons to get different styles. Sometimes the new styles they get don't suit them. Why did they change it in the first place?!?!?

White colored people want get tanner skin, so they tan or go to a tanning salon. They ruin THEIR skin.

Miley Cyrus and Ashley Tisdale both have wavy hair, but sometimes they straighten it......and so what....

Different people like different things. Not only do African American women do that but also so do white people.

So again, why ask that question??

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

this is not racist....but honestly, i'm just not attracted to black women (for the most part)

i never could figure out why....I just dont find them attractive

No racist comments: Why don't African American women keep theri natural curly hair?

its nappy and idk why they do

I'm an African American student studying in Madrid, Spain and I have an important question abou

I'm an African American student studying in Madrid, Spain and I have an important question about hair care

Bring your own supplies! Even if there are hair places in Madrid, they might not understand exactly what you want done, or they might charge you extra because you're foreign to Spain. Also, bring your own water. (That's super important when you go to a different country.)

Is there a gel for african american that doesn't damage your hair???

Instead of an alcohol based gel, use a pomade instead. Alterna Shine Hemp is a great pomade!

I have the same hair too. Dont use any types of gel. They just make our hair worst.

Is there a gel for african american that doesn't damage your hair???

thats because gel is bad in general but i've found a GREAT line of product for aa hair i use them myself and they WORK check this link http://www.triplegro.com

the closest to gel is the healing serum which is very good for hair and split ends

Is there a gel for african american that doesn't damage your hair???

dont use gel... use Pink (thats the name of the brand, it comes in a pink bottle) Hair Lotion. i am half puerto rican, half black, and the company is 100% black-owned. you wont need gel if you use this, it will get rid of your fly-aways and everything.. but don't overuse it! itl make your hair look greasy. good luck! p.s. you can find it anywhere- target, eckerd, cvs, etc.

Is there a gel for african american that doesn't damage your hair???

Absolutely, Keracare has a protein gel that contains wheat, jojoba and few other healthy ingredients for your hair. You can also use a hair butter as a gel. Gels are fine your hair as long as they contain protein and they do not contain alcohol and you do not apply to the scalp.

Is there a gel for african american that doesn't damage your hair???

try going to the beauty supplies store and look at there gels and read them to see what they do for and to your hair.i don't know the name of this one gel but most african americans use this brown gel for there hair and it holds good without damaging your hair.

good luck!

Is there a gel for african american that doesn't damage your hair???

yeah, i found this stuff its like glue but not as runny, its like paste and its ralph lauren styling paste, it works good but its kina expensive, like 13 bucks for a 15 ounce jar.

I'm african american & i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage m

I have relaxed hair and i want to get highlights done professionally, although i know they typically use bleach. My hair is very healthy despite a few split ends. Would bleach damage my hair a lot and if so is there something else they use at salons not containing bleach or thats less harmful as bleach? Or if i do get foil highlights using bleach is there a deep conditionong treatment that would restore my hairs nutrients and prevetnt breakage?

I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

try to go to a stylist who doesn't use bleach. it is possible to highlight your hair without using bleach. also, having relaxed hair and also getting some color added to it will damage your hair, even if just a little. make an appointment with a stylist in your hair and discuss your concerns with him/her. good luck

I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

there is loreal hair dye that deep condishions your hair to

I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

Bleach would damage your relaxed hair. Any chemical process, whether it's a relaxer, color, perm or highlights alters the integrity of the hair. Think of it as "controlled" damage. But, if it's done right, you shouldn't get breakage. Talk to the professional who relaxed your hair about it. If you do your relaxer at home, then find a professional with a good reputation and have a consultation with them. If you see someone, or know someone with relaxed hair, and they have highlights. Ask them where they get it done. Even if they are a stranger, people usually consider it a compliment. Once your hair is chemically treated, you can never restore it back to a healthy hair follicle. Conditioners and treatments are only cosmetic. There is no such thing as "rebuilding the hair".

I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

Even though your hair is pretty healthy now, having a chemical process done on top of another chemical process can lead to damage, such as hair breakage and extreme dryness of the hair and scalp. I used to get highlights all the time in high school, and my stylist suggested I use children's relaxers after the coloring was done - mainly because the chemicals wouldn't be as strong as in an "adult" relaxer. Secondly, regardless if you get highlights done by foil or "cap and hook" method, the stylist should suggest you deep condition your hair at least once a month, and also use conditioning shampoos and conditioners to keep the hair mosturized. They will also use one on your hair after coloring it, as well. But, notice I said it "can" lead to damage, but doesn't have to. By keeping your hair mosturized, and using a good line of grease and other hair products (I prefer Motions) can really keep the health of your hair up.

I'm african american %26amp; i have a relaxer but id like to get highlights, will bleach damage my hair alot?

bleach damages anybody's hair. you should get it done professionaly by a hair stylist that doesn't use bleach. it's possible

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American W

Or simply have some patience %26amp; let the hair grow back at it's own pace - natural way is always the best

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American Women?

My hair completely broke off about a year and a half ago and since then ive been using Doo Gro growth products. IT WORKS between using that and braiding my hair to keep from putting heat on it but hairs grown back thick and healthy. I can get doo gro products at beauty supply stores, CVS and some wal- marts. I suggest that you use the full line which includes growth stumulators hair thickeners etc and its not too expensive. It consists of different shampoos, conditioners, hair oils and cremes.

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American Women?

Use Dr.Grow it comes in a brown box with a shadow of a african american doctor on it. Depending on where you live, you can find it in any black haircare store. You can use doo grow but be prepared cuz it stinks, smells so bad.

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American Women?

u can use Dr miracle or doo grow because doo grow work for me and they have different type for ure condition

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American Women?

It depends on what made your hair fall out in the first place? Was it chemical damage, tension (braids), stress, medication...etc. All of these things can have a different affect on the hair as well as a different solution to the problem. I would advise seeking the opinion of a professional stylist that has a reputation for great hair care. (be sure to check out her/his hair first...if they can't take care of there own hair, they can't possibly offer you any resolution!)

What type of hair product can you use to make your hair grow once it fell out for African American Women?

Either Doo Gro hair products or Dr. Miracles hair products or Mane 'N Tail hair products.

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pre

Hello, I Recently Got My Hair Pressed For My Birthday 1 week or so ago. I was wondering what types of hairstyles I can do for my hair because I can't think of anything so I just keep putting it in a ponytail. So what I basically need is hairstyles to go to school with (I can't use gel or my natural hair will come back). My hair is normal length for a black girl so its like a few inches before my shoulder bone like where your throat is but it's not long enough to reach my shoulder. So if you can tell me what hairstyles to do and how to do it. I go to a Catholic school in the Bronx that consist of mostly Hispanics and Blacks( I Dont Know If That Will Help Anything Or Not So...)

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

normal length for a black girl? i guess i must be strange and abnormal because my hair is past my shoulders.

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

you could try putting it up in a bun or something

or just anything you couldnt do when it was curly

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

If I were you I'd just wrap it. At night wrap your hair (in a circle around your head) and then in the morning comb it down. It'll keep your hair straighter longer, and you won't need to use any heat on it b/c your skull acts like a big roller. Go to www.motionshair.com and they tell you how to wrap your hair.

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

flat iron your hair and wear a wrap. Their are a lot of books out there for black hair styles.

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

well im a balkk teen and i would vave it by putting braids in it and sleeping overnight in them and then take them out in the morning or you can scrunch it

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

Try wearing it down and curl the ends downward with a curling iron or wear rollers at night on the ends.

http://www.blackhairmedia.com/hairstyles...

I Am An African American Teen And I Want To Know What Hairstyles I Can Do With My Hair While Its Pressed?

Lol. Have fun with your hair - it's the most versatile out there. You could wear it down; half up, half down; have cornrows at the sides and a quiff in the middle, and tie it down (Fergie from Black Eyed Peas had something similar); part your hair just off center and have one side with cornrows (kinda like what Nicole from The Pussy Cat Dolls had last year); have a fringe; tie the top half up and divide the bottom vertically and make it into two braids. It's hard to explain in words, but if you're stuck for inspiration think about music artists and actors (check out Kyla Pratt's hair styles in early episodes of One on One) and take bits of what you like!

Have fun!!

Use some kind of grease and use a hot comb and straighten it. No product will make course hair straight...a hotcomb or a perm will. I suggest a hotcomb, don't get a perm...stick with your natural beautiful hair.

I am white and african american if i wash my hair alot will it grow longer?

No it will dry your hair. On an average, hair grows at the rate of 6 inches annually. The secret formula for hair growth is to see that hair remains healthy. Try http://solutionsforhairgrowth.blogspot.c... for more details.

I am white and african american if i wash my hair alot will it grow longer?

No washing hair has nothing to do with the hair coming out of the follicle. Overwashing can lead to hair breakage and you'll actually have shorter hair.

Hope I helped!

I am white and african american if i wash my hair alot will it grow longer?

Just try to not brush it really hard or use curling irons/straightners/blow dryers much. Those can damage your hair too.

I am white and african american if i wash my hair alot will it grow longer?

its better to wash ur hair once a week, not everyday, for the reason the first person said. if u want it to grow, what u want to do is reduce breakage, u know that bad roots is what messes up good hair. so try switching ur products, to emeregency hair treatment 911 both shampoo and leave in conditioner which u can use everyday w/out washing ur hair.( it will make it soo soft in just 3 days or less) and every 2 weeks or so do ur treatment with avocado and a hint of olive oil, it'll give ur hair a nice natural shine, but thats how it will grow, u can help it by minimizing breakage. ur hair will grow atleats (60mm) a day. if ur interested in buying the 911 products u can find it online, and in beauty supply stores, for some reason sally's doesnt have here where i live. but i'm sure u can find it.

What is a nice relaxer for very short semi curly hair? Im of African and Native American back ground.?

whatever you do dont get a relaxer from the store it will take your hair completely out. if this is your first relaxer please, please, please go to professional have them look at the texture of your hair and decide. if they want to use a box relaxer on your head run out of there like crazy.

What is a nice relaxer for very short semi curly hair? Im of African and Native American back ground.?

Use either Dr. Miracles Relaxer or Revlon Realistic Relaxer or Luster's Pink Relaxer.

The reason why it's probably hard for your hair to become bone straight is the smoothing process of the relaxer. You must apply the relaxer with a relaxer (perm) brush then smooth it with your hand.

What is a nice relaxer for very short semi curly hair? Im of African and Native American back ground.?

someone mentioned motions.........motions is not good at all.......trust me i know i have 2 cousins who have their own salons. dont use motions.

the best relaxer to use is affirm relaxers from sally's beauty or optimum care relaxers

How do I get my hair to a good wet style for african american?

My all time favorite hair stuff line is Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine. They have a really cool wet gel, get extra strong. It's suuuuper awesome. I so think the leave in cream and hair serum is useless if you already have the shampoo, conditioner, and gel. It doesn't dry your hair out and a little goes a long way. It's by far better than Pantene, Herbal Essences, Sunsilk, Suave, and other popular hair brands.

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

what can i use as far as pills, grease , oils, sprays and regular routines etc.

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

There is really nothing you can do ....just don't cut it

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

Like i told another girl who wanted to know what she can use to make her hair grow. Its a greasecalled Dont Be Bald it comes in a blue container its the original theres one in the red container its medicated with sulfer 8 to relieve dandruff and itching. Theres also some stuff called wonder 8 oil. The grease will make your hair thick and the oil makes your hair grow giving you length. Its also in the conidtioner you use to when you wash and blow dry your hair. You can get all off the stuff i just told you about from either a chinese store that sells hair weave or sallys. Buy you some lil bottles off protein to mix in your conditioner their only like 59 cents a tube. Gurl i tried to get a job at the casino and they had to cut out a chunk of my hair for a drug test gurl. Trust me this works.

Pills: GNC makes an awesome nail/hair dietary supplement that also helps circulation. I love it - it's about 8.50. I suggest you get the smaller bottle, because it has smaller pills.

Grease: Don't. Grease clogs the pores on your scalp and also disturbs the production of sebum, or natural oil.

Oils: If you go to the beauty supply store, in the ethnic care section, there are many hair oils that you can use to stimulate your scalp. These were extensively covered in an issue of Black Hair (of Hype Hair), the one with LeToya Luckett on the cover.

Sprays: Pick a simple oil sheen that works for you. I alternate between two - Olive Oil oil sheen, and Pantene's Relaxed and Natural oil sheen (which smells good).

Regular routines: Try to spread out your relaxers to 10 weeks. It's good for your hair and your wallet, because you'll only be getting five a year. Avoid consistent use of heat tools like flat irons and blow dryers. If you can't live without them, be SURE you use products that are specifically designed to protect African-American hair from heat damage. That was covered in the magazine as well.

Also, try to avoid certain types of extensions. Micro braids, if kept in for too long, will damage your edges. Ponytails that need pinning can damage your scalp if the pins are pushed in too far.

Buena suerte!

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

dont comb so much, dont brush so much, get hot oil treatment once a week, dont wash it so much, use super gro. This will help.

Also, use a hot comb to straighten it (but coat it in super gro first) then you can comb it and brush it with less breakage. I have done this, it works!

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

I am too, what u do is you just cut the ends like every 7-8 months (Im not sure the exact months) then just let it do the trick

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

Triming your hair to get rid of the spilt-ends, helps your hair appear healthy and it will make it grow healthier.

A steady routine of Vitamins like A %26amp; E, gives your hair the nourishment to grow. Proper diet (no junk food) and plenty of water are the keys to great skin, hair and nails.

If your hair as a tendency to be dry and break off, keep it moisturized but do wash your hair regularly.

Stay away from products that contain waxes, like dimethicone, these give you "false" softness and don't really moisturize and thus contribute to hair breakage because you think your hair is smooth and soft. Don't laugh, but there is a product that was marketing for horses that people swear by (something like horse %26amp; mane shampoo). It's sold in beauty supply stores.

Try going natural if you can. Avoid chemicals, if you must get a relaxer make sure your hair is deeply conditioned (without waxes) beforehand.

Use only essential oils (like KEMI products).

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

what i used to get my hair to grow quickly was i kept my ends trimmed and healthy. i used prenatal viteamins and i often use the oils that the african hair braiders use in the shops...whatever that oil is it had do wonders to the growth of my hair.

How do i get my hair to grow very quick i'm african american?

Try to not comb and brush your hair unless its necessary. Deep condition your hair everytime you wash it. Eat really well and take a multi vitamin. Drink plenty of water it hydrates your body and your hair. Make sure you sleep on a satin pillowcase or wear a silk scarf to bed. Use heat as little as possible. When you wash your hair let it air dry and then flat iron it straight instead of blowdrying. Do protective hair styles in the winter like braids buns etc... That's about all thatI've been doing for the past two yrs and now have hair up to the middle of my bach of bra strap length. Know it takes time though.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every d

I get her hair relaxed about every 3 months. She is due to have it done now. Should I wait until after the summer? Every summer her hair ends up fried by August. Oh, and she is 8 years old. Please! somebody help us!

Thanks!

A stressed out caucasian mom!

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

She can still swim daily, I would not relax her hair until after summer but, you want to wash and condition it regularly. Make sure you use a moisturing shampoo and conditioner. I would also give her a hot oil treatments once every one to two weeks or cholesterol deep conditionar with a plastic cap. If you have a hair dryer that she can sit under while wearing the plastic cap, that's even better. You may want to purchase a leave in conditioner too. Infusion leave in moisturizer is pretty good. If you blow dry her hair make sure you follow up with a good moisturizing pomade/hair oil. Pantene's African American hair products are great. Just go easy on the curling irons and stuff and always moisturize and use wide teeth combs to avoid breakage and she should be okay.

Also, you may want to get her hair braided. This gives the hair a break from chemicals and it grows back healthy and strong.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

put a swimming cap on her head.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Make sure she wears a swim cap. That would probably be your best bet. After washing, there are a lot of hair 'emollients' that will give her hair more moisture and protect it from breaking. Also, make sure she either sleeps with a silk scarf around her hair, or on a silk pillow case. Cotton will zap the moisture and lead to hair breakage.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Make sure her hair is wet when she goes in the water. buy a clorine removing shampoo and use it after she swims, and goto a salon that sells redken and buy something to repair it once a week and use a good moisturizer . go to a fine salon and spend the money , it is worth it to protect the hair.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Try a product called Mane%26amp;Tail. It is designed for hair like hers. I am also white, but I lived in a foster home with an african american girl, and she swore by that stuff. Also, she carried small bottles with her, so when she got done swimming, she would wash out the chlorine from her hair. i would say this should be done with anyone wanting to keep healthy hair. Also, infusium 23 is packed with vitamins and essentials for hair, no matter what color or texture. Good luck, hope this helps.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Pool water on anyone's hair is harmful but especially if you relax it, you need to protect her hair. You could buy her a swimmers cap to put over and have her choose her favorite color/style. At salon's they sell shampoo/conditioner for swimmers. I would ask a beautician what is best to use for her hair since you relax it and she'll be exposed to chlorine. Good luck!

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Stop chemically processing her hair and have it put into cornrows -- NOT FAKE EXTENSIONS, but just plain, old-fashioned french braids using her natural hair. You might have to have the braids re-done every four weeks or so to keep them neat. You need to make sure you wash AND condition her hair after being in the chlorine EVERY DAY. You can do this with the braids *IN.* Make sure she oils her scalp and the braids after every wash. Conditioning is very important to black hair. I know white people seem to have the "option" to do this, it is not optional for us, it makes a huge difference in our hair being healthy and manageable or not.

Once she is finished being in the pool everyday, go ahead and have the braids removed long-term and re-relax her hair again.

CLARIFICATION ON THE DAILY WASHING: Normally, we (blacks) don't generally wash our hair daily because it causes our hair to dry out excessively. However, this rule does not apply when you are getting into chlorinated water. Chlorine is a strong chemical that should not be left on ANYONE'S hair for an extended period of time (i.e., a week). So please do wash and condition her hair EACH TIME she is exposed in the pool. As long as you condition her hair (with a moisturizing conditioner) after you wash it, it should be fine. Again, lightly oil her scalp and braids with a light hair oil or moisturizer, and she'll be fine. Ahhhhh...to be 8 again.

BTW, it's good that you are taking the time to ask. Forget these bigots who don't know what they are talking about.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Go ahead and relax it, relaxers don't really "wash out" like some people thing.

1. Try using a clarifying shampoo after her hair has been in all that chlorine, it's kinda harsh so you can't use it every day, but maybe every two or three days.

2. When you're not using the clarifying shampoo make sure it's washed after every swim anyway, with regular shampoo that's a little gentler and some conditioner too.

3. Put plenty of moisturizer on her hair (that's why it's so fried) because all the washing and swimming takes out all the products.

4. Be especially gentle when combing out her hair-cus it's so curly-and see if you can put it in styles that don't pull it back too tight.

5. Put conditioner on her hair before she goes to the pool, it acts as a deterrent against the chlorine.

P.S. Kristen doesn't have a clue, I've been in church all my life and any verse she has from the bible is outta context.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Girl forget what these people are saying, just get a neutralizer shampoo the best one are Dark %26amp; Lovely or Soft %26amp; Beautiful.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Don't listen to what Kirsten wrote! I can't believe anyone in this day and age would say such a thing!

I'm engaged to a black man and will one day be in the same position as you. I have lots of black friends, and they usually just swim with swim caps on, but that can be hard on a little girl. I would consider an alternate hairstyle for the summer because it's bound to get wet sometime!

Also, do you have any black female friends who could give you advice?

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Okie.!

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

i have a friend that has the same type of hair. she don't swim but her hair gets dried out really bad so she will sleep in conditioner once a week or how ever many of times it is needed and it works wonders on her hair.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Try a deep conditioning treatment. It always works for me. I am Philippino and black and I rarely ever get perms. Maybe once a year, and my hair can get damaged in this season. So it might be a good idea to lay off, until she stops swimming. And for the girl KRISTIN, bi-racial people are beautiful, as is all other races(people) in general. Wake Up! And if you have something else to say. Write me!

And as for your daughter, growing up there are people like Kristin out there. Let her know she is beautiful.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

You would definatly want to get her a swimming cap. Of course do not wash her hair daily at the most once weekly and perform a deep conditioning everytime. You may also want to consider braids. I have attached a link with great hair care products use by African American actresses ( who put there hair thru a lot daily).

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

I have a 10 year old girl who goes to the pool everyday in the summer. I stop relaxing her hair right after Easter because she shouldn't go swimming with a relaxer the chlorine will eat her hair up. Make sure she wet her hair before entering the pool-this will cause her hair to soak up less chlorine. Make sure you wash and condition her hair when she done swimming and kept it oiled. The chlorine strips her hair of it's natural oil.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

I would suggest that you do cholesterol treatment all summer long it protects and strengthens the hair. If she is going to get it relaxed do it now that way she want be having it done in the middle of summer and it has a few weeks left before water activities. The main thing is to keep moisture in as chlorine in pools will dry and strip the moisture out. Use a clarifying or cleansing shampoo one to two times a week to strip the chlorine off her hair but don't use one every day and always follow with a Hydrating or moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, and then do the treatments at least one to two times per week.

My daughter is half african american. How do I protect her hair in the summer when she swims every day?

Maybe you should try sleeping with your own race.

I am tri racial african american white and puerta rican. My hair is very thin?

What are some options to get my hair fuller. I have tried nioxin but it does not help. What else could I possibly use to help me with this I have chemically treated my hair (bleached it). Please help

I am tri racial african american white and puerta rican. My hair is very thin?

Mankind, you sound like the perfect blend. I want to see a picture of you! By the way I am THE ALL AMERICAN!!!!

I am tri racial african american white and puerta rican. My hair is very thin?

i bet you don't need to do anything to your hair, so what if its thin doesn't mean there is something wrong. You are probably a very attractive young lady and your hair is what its suppose to be I would say be very, very careful what you do to it you could make things worse in the long run.

I am tri racial african american white and puerta rican. My hair is very thin?

Bleach erodes the cuticle, the outer layer of the hair, so that is the main culprit.

The best you might be able to do is to deep condition your hair every time you wash, and don't over do it, once a week. Get a leave-in-conditioner, not too heavy, that will coat your hair.

Outside of that, you can make your hair look fuller, by the way you style it, so get creative, only you will know.

The only way to truly have thicker hair is to let the bleached portion grow out and allow your natural hair to return, and avoid chemical processing....it's just too harsh for the hair.

~best

I am tri racial african american white and puerta rican. My hair is very thin?

The only way it will get thicker is to make sure you keep it healthy... No more dyeing, flat ironing... No harsh chemicals. Condition daily and deep condition weekly...

I am tri racial african american white and puerta rican. My hair is very thin?

Well, if you would like a quick fix and it is not harmful at all, but it is originally made for horses...yes I said it...HORSES!!!

It is called Mane Tail and Groom, no not the Mane and Tail sold in your local grocery stores. I use this in my hair twice a week and it can retain 3 inches of thickness in one month. I have contacted the makers(Shapely's) and they assured me it is safe for humans. My friend uses it to thicken her 8 month old's hair...so it is safe. I'm African-american, Native-amercan and creole...go figure. My fiance is mexican, french and white and his hairline was receding.. he turns 30 in Nov. and it grew back. Sorry to ramble.. you should find anywhere horse products are sold. I must warn you, the smell is awful, it contains Sulfur, which is great for hair thickness. Use after you wash you hair or mix with a scented oil. It is fairly affordable. Happy hunting.

Why do mostly African-American have to braid their hair?

Is that a part of culture or...?

I'm just curios,

No racism answer please.

Why do mostly African-American have to braid their hair?

I'm a BLACK girl and i don't braid my hair a lot. Even when i do which is rarely i just braid it in the front. It's sort of part of culture, but it's also a really good way to keep your hair if your traveling because you don't have to do it every morning cause ... IT'S ALREADY DONE! Some black women just like the look and feel of braids better than wearing their hair loose. But a downside of braids is that they hurt like crap at first especially when a person is doing the actually braiding.

Why do mostly African-American have to braid their hair?

They want to... Most of the ones I see know are getting it straightened. Also If you have a family member who knows how to do it, it won't cost you alot. I don't like it, particularly on men.... Just get haircuts, it looks better.

Why do mostly African-American have to braid their hair?

we dont "have" to braid our hair. Its a convient style for our hair. I see plenty of races with thier hair braided, but for some reason our "nappy" hair seems to hold it better. I guess u could call it a part of our culture. While other races keep their hair straight and long, we can keep ours braided and long.

Why do mostly African-American have to braid their hair?

to most its not a "sense of cultural remembrance" or an Afrocentric plight, its a source of style, and its easier to manage your hair i hope i didn't offend anyone b\c some people think of braids as a cultural movement while most don't

Why do mostly African-American have to braid their hair?

Don't have to. Many AA's may like to because of personal preference. Just like many do not. No other reason.

use parnevu leave in conditioner, or lusters pink oil moisturizer. With the parnevu, apply generously to your hair and massage in circles so that your hair begins to curl. Then take a blow dryer and if it has a cool setting blow the hair so that it stiffens dry. When you get tired of it, either brush your hair or just wash it.

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

.........and reduce breakage......

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

Protein, see that is what must african american's don't get alot of. And then also your perm if you use one can be keeping your hair damage, you need to use a perm with Lye. If you notice most well on in the box don't have lye, and the perms without lye is normal for people with puerto rican hair that is hard to break down curls. Usually the ones that come in the bottle is the best, motions, some olive ones too. Also a good thing is to use a hot oil treatment for a while, it will help to stop break and mend. You might one to just snip the ends of your hair. You need to help your cuticle mend and having an excessive amount of spilt ends won't do you any good. Get some protein pills and taking them on a regualry bases. Also make sure to read EVERYTHING you use and see if it has protein, that is the major hair growth factor!

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

Prenatal vitamins will make your hair and nails grow

A deep conditioing weekly will make you have less breakage.

So will reducing the use of blow dryers/curling irons and other harsh chemicals like hair dyes.

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

If it's permed that there is little you can do besides keep it well conditioned with deep conditioners it it is natural go to www.missjessies.com

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

I myslef am african american so i know what you mean, to make your grow the quickest thing is to get estentions then take them out after like 3 months, relax your hair, trim the ends and when you get undergrowth relax it again(its a regular process) then after sometime again get extentions again, rember to always trim the ends of your hair when you dont have extentions in, becuase that makes it grow quicker aswell. to prevent breakage, try hair products like carrot oil and pink oil. Also go to your hairdressers so they can give you treatment like 2 in months or so

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

It takes time, but make sure you grease you scalp at least 3 times a week and use a moisturizer. After washing it apply a conditioner and leave it on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it out. Try the line of Doo Gro products to strengthen, and oil your hair, and brush your hair everyday. When I was a kid my mother made me brush my hair 100 strokes on every section. The brushing, and the grease stimulates your hair roots, and will help it grow. Stay away from relaxers for a little while, and get your hair pressed instead, and in months you will see a difference.

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

My daughter has extremely long curly hair and people are always commenting on it. One day a cashier asked me if she used a silk pillow case because as a child her hair was very fragile and her Dr. recommended it to help her hair grow and stop breakage. Its worth a try as they usually run less that 10$.

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

Hello BadGirlG,

Although this is a long post, I feel it necessary if one is serious about making changes for the better.

Although I do not have Africian American hair, mine is still very curly. I do not use brushes or combs on my hair, fingers only. I usually use leave-in conditioners that also have a detangler in them, along with a weekly deep conditioner. Try finding natural products at a health food store ,in conditioners %26amp; shampoos. (You'd be surprised to know how many products have urea in them, as in embalming fluid%26amp; other nasty chemicals our bodies are bombarded with every day)I try not to wash my hair more than once or twice a week. I usually wet it in the morning just to emphasize the curls after it dries naturally, no hair dryers please. Use covered elastics only. Do not leave any barretts or elastics in your hair overnight. Try massaging your scalp in the evening or at a time that is convenient for you when you are relaxing, this will encourage blood flow to the hair follicles which will encourage it to grow %26amp; be healthier as well.

May I suggest taking a multi-vitamin pill with no fillers. Your age will dictate which one, for example, if you are in your fifties you would consider one for seniors. Otherwise an adult one would be very good. They needn't be terribly expensive.

Next, looking at your diet may be necessary. A diet rich in fresh fruit ,veggies %26amp; wholewheats if you are able to will be very helpful.

I know this sounds like a lot of work although incorporating a little bit at a time works best so you needn't feel overwelmed by it all. This way it slowly becomes a way of life %26amp; in the end you will see quite a difference in your hair as well as your health in general. Unfortunately there are no fast simple answers to this type of thing . You will see a difference almost immediately %26amp; have more energy to boot.

I hope this helps.

Big Hugs

Marie

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

The secret formula for hair growth is to see that hair remains healthy. And these simple home remedies which will help your hair to grow can be made at home and work out less expensive than other alternative forms of medicines. Try http://solutionsforhairgrowth.blogspot.c... for more details.

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

here is for all the one's who dont know the correct answer to this question its cosmetology 101.....lol (for you badgirl) they dont have to laugh but you can.........the hair goes three phase anagen,catagen,telogen...now let me explain so i can get to your answer.....

anagen the growing phase

average growth of healthy hair on the scalp is about 1/2 " (1.25 cm) per month. at any one time , as much as 90% of the hair on our head is growing.....hair on women grows faster than men...it keeps growing for a period of lasting from 2 to 6 years, during which the hair -shaft diameter increases in size and (if not cut)the hair reaches maxium length.....

catagen the transitional phase

signals the end of the growth phase..it last about one to two weeks...the follicle decrease....

telogen the resting phase 2-6 month of resting ...during this the hair follicle is shorter...

everyone loses hair everyday between 40 and 100 hairs...average head has 100,000

head varies,,,blonde 140,000.....brown 110,000.....black 108,000...red 90,000.....

now what i am trying to tell you is GENDER,AGE,TYPE OF HAIR,HEREDITY,NUTRITION AND HEALTH HAVE A BEARING ON THE DURATION OF HAIR LIFE............................ and the rate ofgrowth of human hair can differ on SPECIFIC PARTS OF THE BODY, between sexes, and with age....

you know i want to switch my new major back to cosmetology so i can become a cosmetologist instructor.....(not directed at anyone)...but this is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth///////////////////////////////////... i can give you some good hair products and we can go from there how about it?????????????

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

I would suggest that you first put your curling iron down (LOL). No seriously, we do a lot of damage to our hair from using too much heat. In order to get your hair back to a healthy condition you will have to move in stages.

First determine that healthy hair is just as important as long hair because without healthy hair you won't have long hair.

Second get a good hair cut/trim whatever you want to call it. Then if you take care of your hair at home invest in a good protein treatment and moisturizing conditioner. I use Aphogee 2 min reconstructor and Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayo for protein and Tresemme Vitamin E and Herbal Essence (blue) for moisture (they aren't just for caucasians).

I wash my hair no less than once a week, I don't grease my scalp but I do moisturize my HAIR with a leave in conditioner such as Infusium 23 or Paul Mitchell - The Conditioner.

Also be gentle with your ends, they are the oldest and most prone to break after you use a leave in conditioner, put oil on the ends daily to help them stay healthy.

Take it easy on the use of heat, nothing does more damage to AA hair than our curling irons, flat irons and blow dryers but hey, we gotta use them so invest in a good heat protectant.

As far as making your hair grow, you can take vitamins such as biotin, MSM, silica and the like. Remember that hair only grows 1/2 a month on average. You can get more with vitamins and other things.

You should also consider searching the internet for black hair care sites, you'd be surprised how much GOOD information is out there.

What can I (african american) do to make my hair grow?

I can tell you from experience. My hair used to be a little past my shoulders. I didn't grease it, I washed it 3 times a week, and I didn't use curlers or blow dryers. I don't have "good" hair. It's nice and kinky. I just use wrap lotion to wrap it every night before bed and comb it down every morning.Even when I cut it it would only grow to a certain length, never past it. So I got some extentions sown in and kept them in for 4 months. When I took them out and permed my hair, it was in the middle of my back. That was last year in April, and it's still that same length. I might even get some more extentions to see if it gets even longer.

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

Natural hair has a wide variety of options.. Good 2 see you're natural and are taking the healthy route rather than burning/relaxing and damaging your hair.

Check out the forums @ http://www.nappturality.com and also @ http://www.motowngirl.com for lots of tips, styling ideas, and pictures of hairstyles.

You can do flat twists, straw sets, 2 strand twists, twist-outs, cornrows, roller set,

yeah i got one that is really cute and will draw some attention.....

get your hair braided up into a mohawk and fluff out the left over hair from the braids then spray a little bit of oil sheen and it will look great!!!!

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

Maybe you should do braids and then pull them into a ponytail.

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

You could flat iron your hair so you can try it temporarely straight.

You could also try rollersetting it.

Or you could try wearing it in a small afro by just putting a headband in front.

I hope you find something that works for you. Good Luck!

Im am an African American 14 year old with natural(un-strightend) hair and im sick of coco puffs and braids?

I suggest straw sets, wet sets, updo's. These 3 styling techniques offer alot of options. Also, if your parents will allow you see apply a rinse to your hair. Most parents may not allow a permanent dye but rinses deposit color, and wash out in 6-8 washes.

The link below I provided also has a hairstyle gallery for natural hair, and children.

What kind of curlers do i use to put s curls in my hair i am a african american?

Not sure if you mean rollers or a curling iron. I assume you mean rollers. Anyway, you can get what they call magnetic rollers (but they dont have magnets, they are just smooth plastic). Or you could use rods to make small curls. Sponge rollers are usually bad because they suck the moisture out your hair.

This question is for african-american ladies. What is the best brand of hair to buy that is silky and straight

ook ssooo why couldnt i answer it???

I'm african american and i'm trying to get my hair to grow faster.. any suggestions?

Well, I'm an Sfrican American trying to accomplish the same goal! My hair is a little ways down my back but I want it longer! This is what I do..I wash my hair with Olive Oil or Doo Grow Shampoo every two weeks, condition it with the conditioner equivalant to the brand I'm using and let it set for about 10 minutes, with a shower cap on. After that, I rinse it out with warm water and then apply SHINE LEAVE IN HAIR REPAIR...blow dry my hair...by this time my hair is madd poofy so I use my MAxi-Glide straightner (they run around $200 but I got mine for about $80 on eBay) and straighten my hair. I part it into small sections starting in the back, greese each sectionw ith Doctor Wonders Tingling grow and apply some kind of moisturizer to it and omg my hair is so lucious when I finish! Sometimes I spray a little oil sheen after I finish. but make sure to wear a satin scarf when you sleep because as you toss and turn you're rubbing ur hair and that is what causes split ends. I wrap my hair every night. I can't say I clip my ends liek I'm supposed to but I distance my perms as much as possible. I just permed my hair (Olive Oil perm) Sunday night and I hadn't had one since Easter...believe me I've gone longer than that because by straightening it you can hardly tell I need a perm. Umm other than that DON'T APPLY HEAT TO YOUR HAIR....like I said the only time heat is applied to my hair is when it gets washed! I greese my scalp a few days a week with the Doctor Wonders Tingling Grow and I can honestly say that I"m happy with my hair! While trying to get ur hair to grow tho don't bleach(permanetly color your hair) unless you can keep it really oiled! I have 2 colors in my hair and I can honestly say 2 years ago when I 1st got it dont that's when I really had hair problems but as long as you follow the rutine I gave u u should be good to go! GOOD LUCK! Hope I helped you (especially after all this typing!!!) lol

I'm african american and i'm trying to get my hair to grow faster.. any suggestions?

try doctor miracle and also i tried doogrow grease and know my hair almost down to my butt

I'm african american and i'm trying to get my hair to grow faster.. any suggestions?

you canteveryone's hair only 1and a 1/2 month and no farther, you just have to take care of it so it will grow the lenght each month

I'm african american and i'm trying to get my hair to grow faster.. any suggestions?

yay my 1st answer!! lol. i am half African American so i might be able to help you. my hair used to groww SLOOWW, but now it has improved GREATLY! what u want to do i moisturize it A LOTT!! always wear a scarf when u go to bed so u dont get any more damage. get ur hair cut regularly.. it may seem like it will grow longer if u dont, but it will grow much longer if u get it cut. if u dont cut it,, the split ends travel up your hair and makes the damage WAYY worse. if u dont have a relaxer in your hair, thats GREAT. but if u do, like me, every once in a while u should let it go natural, or dont straighten it for a week . and the last thing is that DO NOT WEAR YOUR HAIR IN A PONY TAIL WHEN U SLEEP!!!! the hair will get split and broken where the pony tail holder is and ur hair will be basically done for.

these are the products i use;

deep brilliance: reflect and shine

Kera care: shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner

and hairspray that wont dry out our kind of hair: lusters pink spritz

good luck!! =]

I'm african american and i'm trying to get my hair to grow faster.. any suggestions?

to grow ur hair faster buy a cactus plant and cut it and take the juice out from it. It will be a stick one but it is very useful for ur hair i bet.

I'm african american and i'm trying to get my hair to grow faster.. any suggestions?

Try Organic Root stimulator products! All of them can speed the process up if you take care of your hair such as ends trimmed perm vs no perm things of that nature!

For guys braids. You can use the same products as well just be careful of dyes. Make sure you're using a good shampoo and conditioner because that plays a MAJOR part as well! Some suggestions Pantene Pro-vitamin (Relaxed and Natural)

Is there an African-American Salon that specializes in natural hair in Charleston, SC?

I'm growing my relaxer out and would like to find a stylist that works with natural hair.

Is there an African-American Salon that specializes in natural hair in Charleston, SC?

Hmmm, you should be able to find one in Charleston, but it's getting harder and harder to find someone who can do natural hair without breaking the bank. As a military spouse, I have natural hair and can't find anyone that can do my hair as we move from city to city. I used to live in Charleston, but I don't know anyone who does hair.

Are all African-American women with long, straight hair wearing weaves?

Nope, not all of them. I am one that don't wear weaves. My hair is natural with no chemicals and it is very long.

Are all African-American women with long, straight hair wearing weaves?

Most of them and it is nice.

Are all African-American women with long, straight hair wearing weaves?

not all

Are all African-American women with long, straight hair wearing weaves?

African American women can get "perms" to straighten the natural curliness in their hair.

Are all African-American women with long, straight hair wearing weaves?

I cant say that ALL do because there are chemical processes that can straighten hair and make it more manageable, but all my friends who are African American (and dont go natural or have braids) have weaves.

They say it is easier to get a weave than it is to grow their own hair out since it is pretty course and curly and doesn't grow very long. Plus, the chemical processes available would tend to make the hair more brittle so that also doesn't allow them to grow their hair as long as they would like.

In my experience, any African American woman with straight hair past her shoulders has a weave. You would probably have to ask someone with personal experience in this area though, like a hairdresser.

Hope this helps.

Are all African-American women with long, straight hair wearing weaves?

My hair was waist length. Not straight....I never liked straight hair on me. My mother could sit on her hair when I was a kid, and my great grandmother who had thick wavy hair could stand on hers. Many Black Women have long hair. Some straighten it, some do not. Many White women with long straight hair (Paris Hilton) wear extensions.

Are all African-American women with long, straight hair wearing weaves?

The answer to your question is no. Some Black women grow their hair out and then either use perms to straighten out their hair or let their hair stay natural.

Are all African-American women with long, straight hair wearing weaves?

YES. Its called Malaysian Hair. Im a stylist.

Are all African-American women with long, straight hair wearing weaves?

no it depends on heredity, lifestyle and a number of many other things...most celebrities of all races use extensions or weaves because constant styling breaks off their own hair...look at paris hilton ,beyonce, nicole richie, jessica simpson, halle berry and quite a few more all use "weaves" when i was younger living in texas my hair was thick, wavy and to the middle of my back...i move to cali and it thins out and now goes to a little above my bra line... my great grandmother had hair to her butt...thick luxurious silver hair...not grey not salt and pepper but beautiful silver hair... it all depends

Are all African-American women with long, straight hair wearing weaves?

No, a few of my friends with beautiful long hair grew their own, and so did I. We never added fake hair to our heads.

I'm African American and Indian how do i make my hair grow faster?

Well I'm no expert but I can tell you a few things that I know ( you probably already know them too ). I do not know your hair is, I know a lot of girls and have family mixed with indian and they're hair grows fast.

I think water does the hair good, drinking water that is.

A great rule is to not do too many things to your hair. Styling could to a lot of damage. This is the number one thing I've learned. Notice that a lot of black people with dreads have stunning hair growth compared to the ones who do too much with it. Our hair really isn't meant to go through presses and all the chemicals. Our hair grows better if it's left alone. I remember when my hair broke off really BAD and my beautician told me not to do anything to it ( I love to style my hair ). I didn't, i wore ponytails or wore it down. My hair was back to it's length in a year.

If you have to press (flat iron/straighten) your hair, do it every two weeks. Do not do it everyday or every week. Heat is not good for it.

AVOID GEL, as an african american, i see too many girls using gel, if you use it. Stop.

Carrot Oil and Olive oil is also needed. Oil your scalp everyday or every two days.

When you go take a nap, put something silk over your hair, or under the part you are sleeping on. The reason for this is because when you move, something like cotton etc. can pull the hair along with the movement which causes your hair to break.

MASSAGE YOUR SCALP, do this when putting the oil in it.

Braids help also, I would recommend french braids ( cornrows ). Don't get em back to back.

Also, I know a lot of girls who put water in their hair to slick it down or to tame it ( and most of the time it just gets nappy ). Don't do that alot, AA hair really isn't meant to handle water all the time. It needs to produce oils. And if you do use water like that, use some Leave in conditoner ( motions or african pride ). Well that's all I can think of :)

I'm African American and Indian how do i make my hair grow faster?

I actually don't know any African American friends (girls) who doesn't wear lace front wig....

I'm African American and Indian how do i make my hair grow faster?

Get it braided.

I'm African American and Indian how do i make my hair grow faster?

Getting it braided might work, depending on which type of hair you have more. And summer if coming up, which means your hair will grow faster :]

I'm African American and Indian how do i make my hair grow faster?

vitamins??

I'm African American and Indian how do i make my hair grow faster?

I don't know about growing FASTER, but as far as it growing MORE, the key is GOOD CONDITIONING. Protein treatments, cholesterol deep conditioners, etc. Also, make sure you don't use a lot of grease on your hair. It clogs the pores and weighs the hair down. Personally, I only use jojoba oil for my scalp; cream and a hair polisher for my hair shaft and ends.

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

My hair is really damaged and so so short and i was wondering how I can get it back to being healthy and get it to grow faster because its always breaking off.

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

911 emergency oil or wine vingar or rainwater, first before you do anything to your hair it is best to repair it and these things i list can help bring back your hair health. Do not use any thing else on your hair for 6 months get you a hair covering or a hat that covers your whole hair and wear it for 3 month then you will see your hair inprove. With all that oil, grease and other stuff you been putting on your hair-stop it-follow this information.

rainwater catch it in a clean bowl or even stand out in it and this will bring back the soft feeling. the 911 oil will make her hair feel like cotton. After shapoo rinse your hair in vinager.

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

Try taking a multi vitamin with lots of vitamin E. Also up your protein intake and that will promote hair growth.

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

More protein intake is your answer. I'd start eating more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and make sure you have nice servings of meat for dinner. Protein will help not only your hair grow, but your nails as well. Not to mention, if you like to work out, protein will help those sexy abs stick out :-)

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

hay u can have someone braid it or u can put excitations in and use conditioner wash hair every 2 weeks if u get excitations u can leave them in your hair 4 mouths. good luck.

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

pkay this grease stinks but it works sulfur 8. put it on your scalp once a week. also prenatal vitiams. take one everyday after you eat.

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

Try conditing! It prevents the hair from breaking! I feel your pain. I'm mixed and i hate my hair so much i often cry because of it

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

your hair is always growing, you just don't notice the growth because your hair is damaged. as your hair grows in the damaged hair breaks off, which in turn causes splits to the new growth. the best thing for you to do is get your damaged ends cut off and put braids in for awhile. however, you must make sure that the person that braids your hair knows what they are doing because if they braid your hair too tightly it can cause strain on your hair and cause it to break off. i would recommend senegalese twists (faster to put in and fast %26amp; easy to take out)

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

GO BUY NEO-NATAL VITAMINS. Its the vitamins for pregnant women, they are loaded with amino acids, and WILL make your hair grow faster. However, it also causes the hair on your legs/armits, wherever, to grow faster as well. They're not too expensive. But you'll probably have to shave your legs every day... :)

And then once it starts growing, quit doing whatever it is that you do to damage it so severely.

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

Only diet can bring on healthy hair growth--eat healthy. Use a mild shampoo, %26amp; avoid heat (like curling irons).

I'm African American and i was wondering whats the best way to get faster hair growth?

get braids if ya hair is long enuf cuz i den had braids since i waz 5 and i jus stpped when i waz 10 and im 12 and jus got a perm and mi sis is african american too and her hair waz long so she jus got it cut off like to her ears cuz her hair wza damaged

I am an African American male trying to get hair like Bobby V. How much hair do I need to achieve th

i think its more the texture of hair thats important. If yu mean the waves and curls thing he's had going on the last time i chceked, yu can get thta by washing yur hair, and using a wave cap (adding a lil gel first)

i think yu should have a lil more hair than the so fresh and clean look yu have when yu leave the barber's but not enuff that yu look scruffy.

Good luck fellow african american ;)

I do have a relaxer, and my hair is very thick, but it's very silky and is full of body. I have sideswept bangs, but they are getting longer now (they stop at my chin). I have a longer face, so I want something that will kind of frame it. Let's see. Websites would be appreciated. I would also just take your opinions of what I should do, what kind of products to use on my hair, ect. Thanks!

I need hairstyles people! I'm a 15 year old African American girl with dark black hair that stops midback.

Theres alot on boss hairstyles.

http://www.bosshairstyles.com/long-hairs...

Also, keep the sidebangs long. I remember when mine used to be that long and I cut them (eventhough everyone told me not to). Now they go to my eyes and its harder to style them. I wish they would hurry up and grow all ready =)

Layers tend to frame longer faces well and it will tone down the volume a little without making your hair too thin.

If your hair is that long, you should keep using whatever products you are using. What is it btw??? Im just curious =)

Go with kinky twists;

they're cute and inexpensive, plus they last almost forever!

plus since you say your hair is thick, they'll look even cuter.

I need hairstyles people! I'm a 15 year old African American girl with dark black hair that stops midback.

As for hair products, I think you should continue using the products that you're using if you have the length that you have and the thickness. I used to have midback length hair but I let different stylists do it and it began to fall out. This was when I was around 14 and I'm 24 now and I have yet been able to achieve the same length. I still have thick hair but it will not grow past my shoulders. Products I use are Cantu and Clairols Vitapointe. I use Jam instead of hair gel. I also wet my hair with water before I brush it. There are a lot of styles you can achieve with your long hair. Look at t.v. You can get it braided and loose in the back. I wouldn't recommend putting too much stress on your hair though and be careful about who does your hair; learn from me because I miss my hair like crazy.

There's not too many hairstyle sites that I find helpful on the net. I usually purchase hair magazines at the store. Hair sites that I have looked at before are www.blackhairmedia.com and www.longhaircareforum.com. I hope that helps.

Im an african american female whats good to use on your hair to stop breakage?

There is no generic answer. The real question to ask is,"Why is my hair breaking off?" You may be using chemicals that are too harsh for your hair. You may be using too much heat or using heat in your hair too often? Do you use color to lighten your hair. The hair acts like a pair of panty hose. You can't repair a run. The best thing to do is cut the hair above the damage and explore healthier styling options. Some people mistake breakage for fall out and vice versa. If it is falling out then you need to see a dermatologist and take vitamins.

Im an african american female whats good to use on your hair to stop breakage?

My husband, whom is also African American, says he uses sulfite on his scalp. You have to be careful though you can really hurt yourself, but on hte flip side he has some really awesome hair and although im a little girl he has got me to put some in my hair and its never been softer.

Im an african american female whats good to use on your hair to stop breakage?

apply extra virgin coconut oil on your hair and scalp before shampooing. leave it on for about 20 minutes. it conditions hair, makes your scalp healthier, makes your hair shinier, and strengthens the strands.

Im an african american female whats good to use on your hair to stop breakage?

I recommend coconut oil. If you keep your hair styled mostly, then you should probably try coconut butter in a plastic container. And the good thing is that not only is it very good for your hair, it is also good for your skin and for getting rid of any type of scar and blemishes too. Just don't put a lot on or you will make your head feel greasy. You should be able to pick some of this up at Walmart. I had a more expensive brand not buyable from a retail store but Walmart will do just fine. It is excellent for putting hair up in corn rows also because it helps prevent frizz.
