Why does my 3 yr old daughter have gray and orange hair? We are African American, it doesn't ru

Just like african americans have darker pigmentation in their skin than caucasians, it's the same for hair. When a baby is in the womb, it's hair can actually turn certain colors depending on what it absorbs. You may hear that eating alot of carrots makes your skin orange, and it's true, but you'd have to do it a long time, like say, 9 months? Because she is out of the womb, her hair will darken from the new foods.

Perhaps there is a little cream in the coffee

The same reason some African-Americans have blue eyes, green eyes, or blond hair--someone, somewhere in the family tree had it--"cream in the coffee" as the other responder said...I had "sandy" colored hair as a child, and I'm not a fair-skinned African-American. My hair is dark brown now--maybe your daughter's hair will get darker as she gets older.
