When i wash my hair, I use the Herbal Essence Hydrating Shampoo and the Pin Straight Cinditioner, most of the time i leave the conditioner in and i notice my hair is softer and lighter and has grown longer over the past couple of months.

I use Paul Mitchell Foaming Pommade. After washing my hair, I section my hair, rub some of that in and as it dries, it stays in that cute wavy/curly look with a lot less frizz. I'm also African American and this was recommended by my hairdresser. After using the Paul Mitchell, my hair kind of looks like Kelis' before she cut her hair off.

Try applying a small amount of gel to towel dried hair, then set with old fashioned smooth plastic rollers. When your hair is dry, remove rollers and finger comb or pick your hair (don't brush it). Hope this helps, good luck.
