This question is for African American women with relaxed hair and that go to the gym often.?

Should I wash my hair each time after I work out? I joined the gym over a year ago and go atleast three times a week. I was washing my hair only once a week and after a year or so my beautician and I noticed that my hair had broken off about an inch or so. She was saying that the sweat from working out travels down the strand of my hair and breaks my ends off. She said that I need to wash my hair after each work out. I have read and heard from other people that you shouldn't wash your hair that many times per week. Is there anyone else out there who had gone through something similiar and what did you do?

My beautician told me to was twice a week and deep condition real well at least once a week.

If your washing that often make sure your using a good moisturizing shampoo and conditoner, everytime you wash your hair.

The reason washing your hair too frequently is a problem is because it strips natural oils from your hair which makes hair brittle and more prone to breakage. So the key is to try to replace the oils/moisture your stripping from the hair with good products. Talk to your stylist about what products you should do. I suggest sticking with what she suggest even if its expensive.

Also try just for one week to wash your hair every 3 days, instead of 3 times a week, and see how your hair reacts to that.
