How to take care of fAfrican American hair?

I have 2 african american children the boy is 3 and the girl is 3 months old (by adoption). I am needing help with how to take care of their hair. I love my children and want to be able to take care of their hair right.

Definitely wash and grease the scalp at least once a week. you do not want to let the scalp get dry. you also do not want to put to much grease in it. I recommend Baby Luv and beautiful beginnings hair products for children and they have a nice line of products, which I also use.

For your son you can take him to the barber about once every 2 weeks.

I would recommend that you learn how to braid or at least plait her hair because going to the shop even for children can get expensive especially if you want to keep it up.

I would recommend going to a hair salon that specializes in African American hair care and speaking with someone about how to care for hair. Hairstylists are often very willing to help-- I sometimes even do a little training session when I get a new haircut to learn. Also, there are special hair products out like Pantene's AA Hair Care line that is specially formulated for people with African American Hair.

Wash it once a week, comb it and then braid it. Put an organic shay butter lotion in it to keep it moist and to detangle. If it gets to be too much, take them to a hair salon for help.

Get a few magazines that talk about hair products and styles.

Take your son to a black barber shop for his hair cuts.

And your daughter's hair can be washed with gentle products every other day for the next 9 months. But you may want to learn how to braid her hair so that it will grow.

well, for the boy wash his hair every two weeks and grease his scalp with hair grease which you can find at a hair store or drugtstore ( this is if he has hair) if you plan to get get his hair cut get his hair cut ever two weeks and after you get it cut wash his hair as soon as possible and put hot oil on his hair the oil is not literally hot inless you put it in the microwave but go to a hair store and buy hot oil put it in tthe micorwave put it on his hair then wash it off this prevents scabs form forming because when boys get their hair cute sometimes tthey get scabs and apply hair grease directly to his hair.....for teh girl wash her hair every 2 weks alos and you cna wahs haer hair an dthe sma ethign you do for your hair liek conditoners but you also hae to grease her scalp so her hair wont dry out also it btter to keep her hair braided at an early age to promote growth for her hair and when she gets older you cna put a relxaer in her hair but if she has a softer hair texture dont relax because it can damge it an alterntaive to a relxer will be get her hair presses out and taht last until you wahs her hair if you need to know anything else you can email me at lilmizzd2002@yahoo.com

Because the girl is 3 months old for now, baby oil should be fine. As for the boy, wash his hair once per week depending on the texture, if he has like wavy curly hair maybe 2-3 times per week would work. And since he is 3 he should be going to the barber shop, you can find one in your local town, and they can better assist you. For your daughter when the time comes, go to a hair salon that specializes in African American hair (and Toni and Guy is not it.)

as an african american female who's mother did not know what the heck she was doing-- i highly suggest you take them to a salon and WATCH the hair dresser. in order to find a good one, ask someone. in the mall, at the grocery store. if you see someone who has pretty, well kempt hair, ask! we'll tell! lol but please, PLEASE, don't try to do it urself if you dont know what ur doing. i beg you. lol the things my parents did to my head really traumatized me growing up- kids made fun of me... it just wasnt nice. lol so PLEASE, go to a salon until you've got it down.

Oil. Oil. Oil. Oil. Oil. And find someone with their hair texture to cut it for you. And oil some more.

The oil will make it easy for you to comb, less tangled for less fussing, and makes it gorgeous and shiny. Just remember to NEVER use mineral oil- even baby oil will dry their hair out. Try Jojoba or Coconut oil. Vo5 hairdressing creme should work good, too.

I have always heard that coconut oil is the best. and I also recommend taking then to someone who knows what they are doing. G-luck

a little boy 3 yrs old......please shampoo with his daily bath. Also please don't pack the kids hair with hair oil, use pink oil lotion or pantene oil moisturizing cream. It smells better.

How to take care of fAfrican American hair?

keep their hair low cut..take them to a black barber and they'll kno what to do..make sure their hair always has "grease" lol try african pride products or lusters pink lotion you dont have to put it in dailty but only between cuts when u wanna brush it and make it look desent

How to take care of fAfrican American hair?

For the boy just take him to get a hair cut, and keep Murry's grease on it so it wont get dry,and brush the top down as well as the rest. sorry don't know how to do her hair. Take her to get it done when old enough.
